I worked with Venom Performance, and tested the Venom 400 for the Cougar, 2.0. It works well, and I believe they are going to market it. If you want one, contact Jose at Venom Performance, and he'll be able to help you out.

when you say it works "well"

what does that mean?

Any proof it acutually improves HP or do we have to guess?

If it's like any of their other products, then it's all hype -- you believe what you want to believe.

well, this past weekend at fest, we proved that the venom 400 actually caused a 13 hp LOSS with the V6. John (madcat) dynoed at 129hp with the venom, and 142 without it. at one opint on the dyno chart, the car somehow jumped to -50hp! i dont know how, but i saw the graphs with my own eyes and if ned be, i can get ahold of them and scan them in for all to see. so there is no way im going to trust this product on my car.

Yeah, I've been skeptical of the Venom stuff for a while. I hear mostly horror stories and bad tales. That's enough for me.

Sorry I haven't answered. Haven't checked in for a while. I haven't got any dyno proof, but have noticed a difference in pick up. I've got a few things I want to do before I dyno it. Beyond that, you'll need to check it out for yourself.

I went and got a dyno done today to test the results of the Venom 400 and the Esslinger and ZXtuner pulley reducers. The reducers added 4 hp at 5500 and the Venom added 10 at 5500. Hope that helps.

I appreciate your info.

I would however like to see the dyno sheet. I am sure I speak for everyone.

I have the dyno sheets, but don't have a scanner. Check with Venom, maybe they're going to dyno it. Don't know. I just thought I'd pass it on to everyone. Do with it what you will. I know there isn't much out there for our application, and I've gotten quite a few ideas off of this site, so I thought I'd share what I'd found.

The reality is, to be able to complete with other sport compacts, you have to have forced induction, and obviously a turbo is best. To really make it a monster, there's no way around the fact that the engine and computer won't do much better than 175. It is what it is. If you really want it to be the baddest mother in the barn, you have to rip the engine apart, replace everything with parts that'll take boost, so that you can run 12-14 psi, and don't have to worry about your engine falling apart. The management system will have to be changed, and everything will have to be upgraded to support the boost, cooling system, an lsd, etc..

There are a couple of guys who have done a turbo on the 4, and the information they have is fantastic. I can't thank them enough as it's helped me through the planning stage. I've talked to the guys at Esslinger, and it's definately possibe to build up the engine and supporting cast to hit 300 streetable. It'll take a lot of money, and a lot of time. We're figuring about 14k, and 2 years. If you really want to fly, everything up to that point is putting a band aid on an amputation. It might add a little here and there, but nothing that's going to force you back in your seat.

So that's the plan I have, but like I said, this forum has been a wealth of information, and has helped me, and I was just trying to pass on what I found out, in the hopes that it might help someone else reach their goals.
