I just noticed this two nights ago. I have the Kenwood KDC-X559 headunit, pictured below, and the button that is circled in red is the only one that lights up. Everything else works fine though: the music plays and the screen functions properly, displaying the CD text. What could possible cause every other button on the face not to light up?

Do you have a dimmer button on it? Maybe it si dimmed all the way. I used ot have an alpine that did that. You could turn all the lights off except for the source button.

well I do have a dimmer on it that dims the lights when you turn the headlights on, but I'll have to look at the manual for anything that turns all the lights off except the source. But I forgot to mention that sometimes when I turn the radio on, the source button light stays on and all the other buttons flicker for a few seconds.

That sounds like a short in the wiring. I would take it in to get looked at. Maybe it is still under warranty!

Sounds like a bad connection between the faceplate and the unit itself. Clean the contacts, and make sure everything is making good contact.

Funny you would post that... a good friend of mine's Kenwood just did the same thing.... maybe the industry is right about what they say about Kenwood...

what do they say about kenwood? I thought they were a good name, I thought kenwood, alpine, and pioneer were up there. Well, first my Sony crapped out, now the kenwood.
