Southern Mass meet @ Newport June 27th

Im basically seein if any1 would be interested in goin im sure Mark (Cougarsc) and interstellarspike only for they have expressed some interest in doin so prior to this post... I would go if it was on a Sunday, because I have to work Sat. nights. If I did go, Newport would be sweet! I came back from there on Sunday, and I lived there for two years while in college. Awesome spots for pics!

i guess we could always consider Sunday's too, it dont really matter, im not all to familiar w/ Newport, but i do know Thame St. pretty well :biggrin: , umm so if any1 else has any other suggestions please get back @ this ASAP, just so we can know what to do, even a few cougars woiuld be nice especially if we can get a nice sunset over one of the beaches, it'd go for a nice new Sig...

if you still live in East Brookfield, than it is not 2 hours to Newport. more like 1 1/2 hours at most. Providence is only 1 hour and 20 minutes from Springfield.

Newport is really easy to get to and it probably is the best spot in RI for pics. Definitely worth the trip out there. And I second that it is only about an hour and a half to get there.
For anyone that hasn't been to Newport, there is a $2 fee to get over the bridge and back, unless we take the longer route through Bristol, over the MT. Hope bridge. Anyways, I'm definitely down for Newport on June 12th. And my girl loves going there, so she'll be along for the ride with me.
Let's do guys, I have been down there with the cougar yet...we could really turn some heads on the busy streets if we all rolled down Thames St. together!!

Newport would be good. We'd have to figure out where to meet though, maybe along Ocean Drive. There's a park right there on the ocean but I can't remember what it's called. (always a lot of kite flying there).That's a great place for pictures.:cool:

Its called Brenton Point State Park. That's a good place to meet! What day are we going?, because I can definitely make it on Sunday, June 13th. Any other day is hard for me at the present time.

Well then i get out of work @ 1 i hope so any time after 1:30 / 2:00 would be good, umm im lookin to see how to get to that park, is that the park @ the end of thames street, or is that the park along side the ocean about 3/4 the way down Thames, ok after further review i dunno how to get there, ummmmm if some1 could kindly meet up w/ me near the end of thame, where thame becomes a 2way i beliveve welington accordin to the maps, I dont know, if some1 could meet me up some where prior, maybe meetin me @ Goat Island, these maps are really tough to understand especially when u havent been there in over a yr

Works for me. I think I know the park you're talking about. There's a plaza on the left & you take a right turn & it's right there. Yeah it's where it changes to a one way.You have to keep going to get to Brenton Point. I can meet you there say 2:00. Look for a bright yellow Cougar. Or I could meet you at Goat Island, let me know what's easier for you.

I'll have some new mods by then! I'm going to Vodfan's house on Sat. the 26th and Newport on the 27th, What a great weekend that will be!

OK, now where do you want to meet? Goat island is probably the best way to go. If we meet there at around 1:30-2:00, then we can roll down both sides of Thames St. and then head up to Brenton Point.
If you guys aren't sure which ways to go, I can lead the way! I know the streets pretty well. I worked done at a Hotel and a Restaurant right on Thames for about a year, and I would walk the streets every day. Anyways, I'm down if that's the plan! June 27th @ 1:30-2:00 at Goat Island, then off down Thames heading to Brenton Point for Pics!

Also, if you guys want more places for pics, we can head down towards the Mansions, and go to Salve Regina University for some more cool pics. Tons of side streets with views of the water, and no students to interfere with parking. Whatever you guys are up for!

I'm gonna have to check the carshow schedule first b4 i can say if the 27th will work. From what I remember, thames st is a little narrow and very crowded in many spots.
As far as spots for pics, i went to a carshow last year that was at the Fort in Newport. I'll try to find the name of the place. Nice grassy area. Not sure if we could drive in the same area that the show was tho. I'll see if I can find some info on it.
Another option is Misquamicut beach in westerly. We did that one year and it was fun. You can even bring coolers on the beach and just relax and enjoy the sun. There is a few for parking tho.

well then the 27th it is, ill try to post another message up for those ppl that havent been keepin up with this board, but around 1:30 - 2:00 would be pretty good, i may be a lil late only cause i get out @ 1, needa showa and ehad up to Newport, but if some1 is williin to wait up, that'd be cool to, i can also give u my # just in case anythin happens, u never know.......

That Fort is called Fort Adams, and It is right on the water in the Bay side of Ocean Drive. It is located right next to Jacqueline Kennedy's family's former farm and home Hammersmith farm. Yeah, Fort Adams would be a good place for pice, too. We could stop there first after Goat island. My girlfriend wants to go there anyways, she loves feeding all the birds and ducks that roam the docks at Fort Adams.

Seriouisly, there are so many places for good pics, its not even funny. If you guys want a list of places, I can try to come up with one so you can pick a few where you definitely want to go and then we can try to plan a map of direction or something like that... I don't know, just throwing some ideas at you guys.
