Woohoo! I miraculously scored an SVT upper intake this week! ArmyCat (Matt) drove all the way to Columbus to make the swap with me in my office parking lot, before he traded in his Cougar on his new Toy.

This sucker has given me the best gains of any mod I've done yet. The mid-range pull is awesome! I beefed up my top end when I gutted the precats, and this pumped up the midrange CONSIDERABLY. And I'm still using the stock 2.5 throttle body for now, so there's more to come. I have a 3.0 TB in my garage right now that will bolt right up; all I need to do is get a cable for it, since the 2.5 cable is too short.

Anyways, yeah... SVT upper. Great mod. Thanks, Matt!

Congrats on the new found power Andy

And way to go Matt! Can you feel the Ohio NECO :grouphug: ? ;)

So...
How does the standard TB work with the SVT upper? I thought you needed the SVT TB ?

Aaron, install can be done within 20 minutes if you know how. When we did the headers, it took slade and I about 10 mins to totally undo the TB cables and TB, and the vacum lines and screws, then moved the UIM and then 10 to redo it all lol.

Its funny because its one of the best, but can be most expensive mods with the best gains but takes about 20 mins to install.

The first time I did mine, about 1hr tops and that was because I was like 18 at the time and super cautious lol.

Matt and I took mine and his off, switched, and put them both back on each others cars in about 35 minutes.

And the regular 2.5 TB works fine. It's just a bottleneck now, so it's gotta go.

Andy, correct me if Im wrong, but Slade mentioned that the 3.0 TB is pretty much or exacttly the same as the SVT just turned like 180 degrees or something like that?

I havent seen one in person so I can attest to this or anything, but just curious what you were gonna use?

Also let me know if you notice anything after the TB swap too. Congrads on the new toys!!

I think the 3.0 is larger still than the SVT. The bolt pattern is exactly the same as the 2.5; in fact, I bolted mine up to the 2.5 UIM before I realized the cable was incompatible. The entire 2.5 TB fits into the mouth of the 3.0 with room to spare.

So... what you're telling me is that I could install my SVT UIM, even if I can't afford the SVT TB and cables at the moment, for the cost of (at most) new gaskets? That'd be sweet... because with my recent interior mod$, and the beater needing repair$ twice in two weeks, my mod money is running loowww...

Mark, you can totally install the SVT UIM w/out the SVT TB. The install is really quite simple and straight forward. I know darn well you can do it lol. Not to mention the TB will only help after install but wont hurt much if you dont have it installed yet. Basically, if you got it sitting around INSTALL IT!! :)

Awesome! I was waiting till the warranty ran out, 'cause even the guys at Krieger can tell the diff between the stock TB and the SVT TB ;) Now I was just waiting on the SVT TB... but why wait? :)

This weekend I bolted up the 3L TB and fabbed a temporary bracket and jury-rigged the 2.5 cable, just so I could drive it around the block and see what I'm missing. AND HOLY CRAP, what a huge difference. I guess that now since I have most all of the breathing mods upstairs EXCEPT the TB, and the gutted precats downstairs, the stock 2.5 TB is an even worse bottleneck than I had guessed. I drove it around for a while like that, ripping the tires loose in second ACCIDENTALLY every time I shifted. It was truly remarkable; it rips all the way to 6000 RPM's before you even realize it.

I have since put my stock one back on, but I'm totally on the lookout for a new cable and bracket, so I can wake this think up PROPER.

Andy, isnt the difference amazing? Its really one of the best mods possible, I think atleast. Minus the price of the new ones anymore.... Im glad I got mine from BAT when they had 2 left and I got one of the last 2. Deff. worked out nicely there and saved me a TON of cash.

Also what intake are you running? I noticed after installed the Titan CAI and Headers an amazing difference and wouldnt go back for anything. I dunno whats next, probably cross drilled front rotors and pads, hoping for less dust then what mine are producing on the new black rims, and some kind of new hood....

After finishing the audio aspect which Ive been sitting on for about a year now... But the trip to china should warrant the purchase of a new head unit and then I can finally install everything again.....

Aaron, sometime soon after I get back you're gonna have to help me with the doors, and the reflectors in order to get your jackstands back! Look for the weekend or week after July 4th weekend.

Hey, Tygerr - are you coming to the June mod meet? I don't believe you exist...

John, I'm just running a generic aluminum intake with a K&N cone on it, similar to the BAT pipe. I have a CC CAI extension that I'll be installing at the mod meet, as long as Brian shows up with the hole saw...

lol, yeah, you rememberer that. Yeah, i'm coming down. It'll be cool, though i won't have anything realy to do, well, maybe we can make my hood scoop functional. I haven't decided quite yet if i want to drill a hole in it.
