my a/c vents on my cougar (specifically the center 2 ones) seem to auto close with i turn the ac up to 4 because the wind is blowing so hard any was to rig it open to stop it from doing that?

Sounds like they're broken, because mine have never moved on their own.

on 1 or 2 they arre fine but at 4 they jsut close and on 3 theyd otn close unless i hit bumps that move them

sorry to bring up and old post but I was doing a search to see if I was the only one.
It drives me nuts.
I'm considering supergluing them somehow to keep them open constantly.

I'm surprised there haven't been more people complaining about this.

Never on my Cougar, but on my old Nissan pickup I had this problem with the defrosters. When I turned it up on 4, I would hear this 'thunk' and they would close. I never really figured out the problem...I was guessing a vacuum leak or something of that nature. I'll be curious to see what gets figured out about it.

I think you're talking about the plenum in the system - he's talking about the outlet vents in the dash (the part we see and adjust).

I'd say that there aren't more complaints about them because it's a rare problem!
