Fixing to buy from CustomCougars:

Ground control coil-over kit.
front camber/caster adjustment kit.
Koni 5-way adjustable struts.
OMP front strut brace.

Looking through this years rule book, that will keep me STS legal.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Words of encouragement?

All this stuff is STS-legal. I will have exactly the same setup in a few weeks... just need to find some time to install it. I've had the OMP bar on for some time though, I didn't notice too much of an improvement. I expect the effect of the other parts to be much more noticable though.

Legal, yes, but you're getting ready to pay too much. Email Corey at corey_pimp1@hotmail.com for a better price on the Konis. The OMP bar will look bling, but won't do a thing for chassis rigidity -- get a bigger rear sway bar instead like the one at BAT to cure your understeer. While you're at it, replace the appropriate rear bushings with polyurethane.

Problem is I dont have understeer, I have oversteer. The bigger sway bar would only make that worse. I'm hoping the stiffer and lowered corners will help the car behave better through the twisty stuff, especially at the speeds we run at (read: big airfield).

I'd agree with Guido... I don't really see the need for a bigger rear swaybar (although I did replace my rear swaybar bushings), particularly with the problems people have with them breaking the mounts. Particularly with the spare tire out, getting the car rotate isn't too difficult.

Put on Kumho 712s, air the rears up to about 37-39 psi, and you'll be swapping ends all day. I do it whenever I take someone along on fun run just to scare the pee-pee out of them.

I run 712s daily at 40 psi and have neutral handling. On course, I use 205/50 15 Azenis at 42F 44R and still have neutral handling. I only swap ends when I get really behind and don't scrub off speed in features. YMMV.

I run 225/50/16s.

Course I changed my order now since it looks like I'll be driving the f-mod car. I only got the coil-overs, and added a Wings West Commando wing to the order.

I noticed a HUGE difference when I put in the Bat rear sway bar. and get some azenis on there too as long as you have a tire with a treat wear above 140 you can race it in STS but we all know Azenis are the best. and what els do you have done to the car that you are geitng over stear? this is the second time I have heard sombody say that they have that with there cougar wich is strange becuse stock the cougar should understear like a pig like any FWD american car (I know mine did) but the koni struts and rear sway bar on 15' wheels have made the car just about neutral in handeling thats with leaving the spare in and on half a tank of gas. I do have the front strut tower brace but I dont think stiffening the front end is going to help at all I would take it out but the darn thing is alredy in there and the car is balancing nicley so why play with it lol
