mine was .780... it was only my first trip to a drag strip when I got it...

actually it was pretty funny... it had rained out and the track was still wet. It was the first time I ever lined up. SpruceCougar and Subdre, told me how to time my launch... I launched and I spun my tires through first and second gear like mad because I was so nervous. My reaction times the rest of the day were near or a little above 1 second because I was concentrating on how I was launching the vehicle.

Ooo.. Ahhh..

Your guys' reaction times are SOO GOOD!!! NOT!!!!

Im sorry to rub it in but I have too!

Last Friday was my first time at the track...EVER!!! (Portland International Raceway)

My best R/T was .135 and my second best was .176!!! SO EAT THAT!!!!

Sorry to be so mean about it, but I like gloating!

Since we're all friends here (atleast most of us) and we all drive Cougar's, and since I know alot of you are wondering how my reaction times are so good, I will share my secret with you........

I get such great reaction times be dropping the clutch at the third yellow light. My guess is you all are waiting until green, in which case your R/T's aren't bad.

Try my method, it works!!! Just make sure you wait until the 3rd yellow light so you don't "red light".

After you try it post, I want to hear how you did.

since we are all friends here (some smarter than others), I will let you in on a little secret. depending on what track you go to, (im not sure on exact wording here), but for different classifications/whatever the word is im looking for, the reaction times are set at different times for redlighting it. usually, for cars like cougars, and anybody who just wants to go on the weekend, if you go below a .5 reaction time ur run is void. thats why if u look at most peoples 1/4 mile times on here they arent below .5. now since it says you are driving a cougar, i am sure you could get a .1 reaction time, but you more than likely red lighted it. now I will give you benefit of the doubt and maybe you went to a place where you could get a .000 reaction time w/o redlighting it, but I am still looking for one of those. usually to get that, u have to be in a different class, such as raben. I may be wrong, but this is what I have seen to be true so far.

you're guessing wrong
most of the regulars in this section have been racing for awhile(before they even had a Cougar)
and I think everyone knows that you go on the last yellow because by the time you process
it to hit the gas that green has already dropped.
and technically my .567 is better than your .135 because .500 is the best I can run at my
track with out red lighting (as explained earlier).....so eat that:biggrin:
wow I feel 16 again!

I never redlighed. Not once. So I guess they have it set-up at P.I.R. so that you can go below a .5!

However if the best you guys can go without redlighting is a .5 (which I was totally unaware of becasue its not like that at my track in Portland, Oregon) you do have some impressive R/T's.

actually, i bet they just print your ticket out to where it shows how much above .5 you are. so a .135 is really like a .635. just my guess?

.001 my 5th run at CougarFest... I said "Beginner's Luck"

Then got another .001,

7th (& last) run got .023. I put a photocopy of the slips in my window at the hotel, and I'm holding on to the originals for life! I'll never get 3 such good R/Ts in one day again.

Now I just have to remeber where to shift! I was told I was shifting too soon -- that I should shift at 6500 or so, not before 6000.

when u are drivin ur car and accelerating like that, just feel for when you think your car starts loosing power. thats what I do, i couldn't even tell you what RPM i shift at bc i can feel when I hit my max power, all whopping 130 some odd hp. hahahaha. but yeah, you just gotta get a feel for it
