Hi All,

I know this could go into the problems Forum instead, but just wanted to make sure everyone here was in the loop.

I got a letter from Ford today that they are developing a new design fuel pump for our cars that should be available in late May. Anyone having problems with the fuel pump during 10 years / UNLIMITED MILEAGE - they will do a one-time free upgrade to the new pump!! If you have paid for a replacement already, FORD WILL REFUND YOU FOR THE EXPENSE!! Take your paid receipt to the dealer for a refund. This coverage applies to original and all subsequent owners! Looks like our complaining finally paid off!! If you aren't an original owner & didn't receive the letter, you can contact Ford customer relations at 1-866-436-7332 or thru www.ownerconnection.com and I'd assume that with the VIN # they should be able to update their records & send you the info.

I just got the letter too. My pump gives me trouble whenever there is less than 65% fuel in the tank, im tired filling up the tank 3 times a week so the car wont hesitate. I will get mine replaced early June

Yes. You'll probably recieve a letter.

From the one I got it appears that the fuel pump is covered for 10 years under warranty. Or it could mean that the pump they replace it with is covered for 10 years one time only. Cause with my track record on these pumps I would appear to save a lot of $$ if they cover fuel pump replacements for 10 years.

From the way the letter sounds, they will warranty the original fuel pump(s) for ten years unlimited mileage from the date the car went into service - including all owners. Just once you get it replaced with the updated design (available the end of May) that's the end of their coverage of it.

There is another longer discussion on this in the problems section as well.

It's not technically being considered a recall, according to the post stickied in General.
