Hello all. I go by Grapes. I stumbled across this site looking for Cougar intake mods. :)
I just aquired my new, fresh and clean 99 Cougar ATX,V-6. (Well it's new compared to the historics I usually own.) I'm glad to see there's a group around me (just east of DC) that's into Cougar mods. I've never worked on any cars later than '73, so the stuff I'm looking to mod now is going to be a technical stretch for me. I could even probably use a hand for some of it down the road a bit.
Is there any nights where people get together and shoot the shiznit? Like some clubs I know do one day a month in a well-lit parking lot somewhere just to show off stuff and talk shop. I guess that I'd just like to see some of the mods up close and ask questions, that's all.
Oh, and my plan! I'm looking to do mostly preformance and handling mods. She's gonna be a sleeper. The bodywork will stay mostly stock and may even get a little more basic (no emblems and such). Too bad it's an ATX though. How hard would a MTX conversion be? I'm guessing too damn tough to be worth it.

Welcome Grapes! We are a pretty friendly group around here. Our next meet is May 1st. Check the Stickies (i.e. the folders with the "!" in them). You are welcome to come down.
With handling and performance is is room to work on. Handling more so than performance for the ATX. Browse around the boards to get a good idea if you are looking for something use the search feature, if not we can answer some questions for you.
Hope to see you soon and best of luck!

Hey welcome,,, I was looking into a contour svt swap in my atx cougar and when i found out i had to do a trans. swap i gave up!
As far a meets i beleave we have one coming up next sat. (check the posts), would be awesome to see you. We do not have a usual meeting place or time (busy schedules) just meets now and then. Some of our members including myself are involved in "car clubs" outside this one. Neco is a very laid back club very nice to have "internet buddys" you can meet face to face.
Everyone goes there own ways w/ mods so there is always and open door. And if you have a question w/ your car post and if one of us can't answer you can aways go to other sections and see.
Look every forward to meeting you and best wishes w/ the car.
Btw--> what was your 73? a cougar?

In response to O2CougarChic:
The '73 was a Nova. I had a '68 Stang before that though. What can I say. I'm a "Detroit Iron" kind of guy.
I've been reading the other boards and got a few helpful tips. I saw the post for the May 1 meeting, and will most likely make it to that. I'd really like to talk face-to-face with some experienced modders and get a feel for the relative difficulties of stuff.

What's up Grapes?? Welcome to the boards. I recently joined MD N.E.C.O. as well. I have found this place to be a wonderful resource for the Cougar, no matter what year (99 - 02). If you have any questions about modifications, no matter what area, i am sure the friendly people here will be able to help you out.

I honestly am not a good one to ask on mods, you better off posting you question in it's own folder, ask away.
