so it finally stopped raining and the sun is out. i'm driving home from work when i hit a red light. a lovely riced out accord is next to me. i hear a laugh, so i look over. the guy asks me why i have a hoodscoop and gauges on a sedan and what kind of car i had?!? so i asked him if he wanted to find out......they laughed, rev'd it up, and said sure. i don't guess they had time to see the emblems on the back because i put a good distance on em. i wanted to ask them how they've never heard of a wrx but they turned off. you don't see many rex's around here but how can you not know what one is. i've had ppl ask me what was wrong with my car when they heard the RFL bov. another popular one is, "hey, is that hoodscoop stock?"...........lol.

i had ppl do the same thing when i had my cougar........"hey, nice eclipse!" i know some ppl on here have gotten that one a few times, lol

exactly! i think it's Vivid Racing (http://www.modified.com/images/mag/issue19/cover.jpg) that has their "problem child" subaru on the cover of one of the tuner mags this month.

when my buddy and i drive around together (he has a 2.5 RS Impreza with a freshly installed turbo(faster than a wrx, we tested:) )) people roll up next to us and ask what year hondas we have. i always say 09. they always look like i'm retarded. then i slam it to the ground and my buddy revs it up, takes off and i drag on behind. its good fun.

If they didn't have a drag coefficient that makes a box aerodynamic, a transmission that eats second gear, and awd; probably would have bought one.

Other than that, they are nifty little things.

well first, dont forget its more or less a rally car, so coefficient of drag isnt a huge issue. and why would u not want an AWD?

Well, i don't rally to much in the summer. I'd buy one if I was in more a winterly climate with more open roads and such. I can launch RWD and peg 1.6-1.5 60fts on DRs, and keep my drivetrain loss to a min. I guess it would be great if you did dig races or 1/4 mile legal races, seen a fair share of AWD cars spanking some high powerd v8s, but then again, the v8s spanked didn't really launch well.

I do my driving from rolls or on a road course. Just don't really participate from stoplight to stoplight.

what kind of wrx did you test it against, stock or modded? i don't know too much about the 2.5.....guess it's just a wrx without the turbo, lol. anyways, that's pretty funny that they called it a honda:rofl:

edit: ofcourse the 2.5 rs is lighter than the rex so nevermind, lol........duh

Why would a RS be lighter than a WRX? 2.5 versus 2.0, aluminum hood versus steel?

If it's the previous body style (98-01), than yes it is lighter. Most turbo'd RS will be faster than a STOCK WRX. They will have a bigger turbo, exhaust, and other mods taken care of already, while the WRX still has 3 cats and a tiny turbo. A few mods to the WRX evens the playing field, and the WRX still has a lot more potential than the RS, where reliability is now an issue.

04 wrx - Curb Weight (pounds) (w/Manual Transmission) 3085

04 2.5 rs - Curb Weight (pounds) (w/Manual Transmission) 2965

it's not much but it is something............
