Unless you buy Katzin covers....I'd say don't even try. And for the price, drop seatman a PM and get a new set of leather ones. When I was going to get my 99 seats redone in leather the guy said I was better off buying new seats because the cloth is laminated to the foam in the seat and he'd have to replace the foam. I ended up getting front and back seats (leather 2002's with a green cougar head embroydered) for 1/3 of the cost for the guy to redo my seats.
Try doing a search for "katzkin" on cougardb, or cougarimage. Seatman also has 12 sets in stock (I was talking to him earlier today) and after that, he's done with the cougar seats I think.
EDIT: If you have leather allready, it's not that bad. I'm only assuming you don't. There was also a member of the boards who dyed theirs, try searching "vids/pics" or "interior cosmetics" for "dyed"

Are 01-02 seats any easier to re-cover in leather, than 99-00? Also, I have side airbags, is there any way to salvage that if I do get my seats redone?

What hamill said goes the same for leather 99 seats. The leather is bonded to the foam, so you can't just replace the leather. As for the rest i'm not sure.

Yakko69 : Since the only person I know that has ripped apart more seats than most people drive there car is seatman, try pming him. He's a cool guy.
Here's a link to his latest F.S. (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=6&threadid=96722)

Seatman told me personally that the leather is bonded in the 99's.
