k, i am going to be hanging my beastly amp from my hatch cover, as pictured. im pretty sure that the pins on the cover will bow/break as will the ones on the hatch that are connected to the strings. any ideas on how to reinforce or redo these areas so they dont break?

We tried this on a Cougar that came into our shop. Without dynomatting. its going to rattle like a mofo. We put 1000/1 JL amp on and it just rattled alot...plus you still have to route all of your wires to give that professional look. and put enough extra wire so that when the hatch opens you will have enough wire to cover full travel of the hatch. IMHO you would really be better off doing it some other way.

we did this in my buddies focus. we replaced the strings with thin steel cable. it worked great. as for the back section where the amp is mounted, we attached some aluminum strips there and then vinyled over it and it looked like a stock piece. his amp is a bit bigger than yours and it held perfectly. good luck. about 10 bucks at home depot and your set.

i think the strings themselves are strong enough, its the knobs that they connect to is what im worried about. and also the little posts on the cover itself, i dont think the little plastic pop-rivets are very strong. i plan on fiberglassing behind the amp, and im not sure yet as what to do with the topside if i go with bolts and straps all the way through. i think i could resolve the rattling problem by putting rubber/weather stripping around where the cover touches any plastic.

i should be able to hide the wires under the fiberglass piece run that off to the sides. i do have an extra cover that i am using, so i guess i'll just experiment with it and see what turns out.
