View Full Version : I broke into the 13s for the first time yesterday... (non-Cougar)

After starting off with a 14.0, I had 3 13.9-second passes and finally a 13.7 (on a 13.87 dial-in :banghead;). I got my drag radials mounted, but even though they hook so much better than my stock tires did, I was having a hell of a time getting a good launch at the track. My first run had a 60' of 2.3x, followed by a bunch of a 2.17-2.22, and then finally a 2.06, which is still pretty weak, since I know people who are cutting 1.9s on the stock tires.

But all in all, it was a fun afternoon... I got 5 runs in, and could have had more if I hadn't broken-out in the first round of eliminations.

The best was my second-to-last run... I left traction-control on and tried to do my burn-out... oops... the car STALLED.

Good deal  ;)

Just like myself, get alittle more practice on the burnouts with the DR's and you should be cutting lower 60's. The 60 is what will break you in the 1/4 hehe. I did better to but only got one run in before it started to mist so I left. 13.06 @ 105 with a 1.89 60' :) I did that once on street tires and finally matched it on DR's.

Freaking knocking on 12s door but she still not opening up heheh. But I felt good that I matched it though. I'm getting the hang to the burnout. I just should have romped on it out of the hole though. I still had a feeling that I would have sat there and spun so I eased it out.

Next time I'm going to do one hell of a burnout and just punch it and hope for the best :) I really need to be cutting 1.5s to 1.6s on these freaking wheels.

Actually need to get ET Streets. . . would have better luck I think.

But good deal. Feels good being in the 13s :) But I bet you'll feel even better once you get her in to the 12s and it being still a street car :)

I have a friend with a bolt on 5sp 03 GT that pulled a 12.87 last year. Since then he's added headers and an aftermarket h-pipe. Curious to see what he does now. He has loads of suspension mods done. That could be my problem too, not keeping the power on the ground :(
