Within the past 6 months my roommates car has been broken into twice, my girlfriends once, and a neighbors twice, all here at my apartment complex. I have a garage, but Ive broken in to it before, its too easy. (a friend put super glue in the key hole.) Plus Im goin to be putting some bump in my trunk soon, so I want things to be safe.

I have no idea what alarms I should be looking for really, I know DEI stuff is good, but any certain models or what not I should look at? I want something with a shock sensor for sure, and preferably a glass sensor also. Money isnt too important, but $2-300 is sorta where Id like to spend at max.

So....whats good?

Some friend...

Use your garage, if the garage is not secure make it secure.
if you get bump in your trunk, don't play it anywhere near your home.
chances are the people breaking into the vehicles live in the immediate area.
I have no idea on alarms though, I assume a shock sensor, glass sensor, maybe a proximity sensor.
tilt sensor.... 10,000 volt tazer/shocker.. just kidding.

if u are gona get a alarm there is no reason for getting on in my mind unless u get one that pages u. thta what i have and i love it. well i would suggest u get the viper 1 that pages u . BUT your only prob. is that the cost for this alarm for a shop is like $400 and you would prob pay $550 installed. like i said one that dosent page u is worth nothing. what do u do when u hear a alarm go off? " someone turn that sh*t off"

Yeah a paging remote is a must. That is a little pricey for me at 500 bucks. Does anyone else have any more cost efficient suggestions.

if money is no option then I would Suggest a DEI Brand...preferably VIPER....I have the 791 alarm in my car. its a hoss of an alarm though....it is remote start, you can turn ur neons on or automate any number of things. it has an optional window module that will roll windows up and down, it has a shock sensor, and window sinsor, it does horn flash lock and unlock...I mean this alarm does it all. and is expandable. It will however cost u around 525-550 installed at most shops. Since I install myself i didnt have to pay for it installed...the alarm iteslf i paid just under 300. But IMHO it IS the BEST OUT!!

That is actually the alarm I was looking at last night. Only thing is 500 is probabally too much. I talked my parents into getting me this for my birthday, and I think thats a tad more than they/ I were expecting. That alarm does seem amazing though. So out of the box it comes with a glass and shock sensor already?
