ya, I know its not good to get the needle down that low, but I know people out there do it.

The lowest I've gotten my miles left in tank thing down to is 2. My father is notorious about this stuff. He had a lincoln Navigator until a few months ago, and discovered he could drive the car another 50 miles past when the computer read 0. Anyone know how far the cougar can be taken past the 0 mark?

Well, mines screwed up or I really do need to FIX that fuel pump. But I was down to 24 and my car bogged down like it ran out of gas. I believe it my fuel pump dieing on me though because I've been having some problems with it.

A while back I hit 0 for 10 miles. Still made it to the gas station no problem. Its NOT a common thing with me.

Lets see once I drove 5 miles on 0
once I drove 0 miles on 0
its not accurate, it went from 20, 16, 10 ,6 0 in less than 4 miles..... don't take the chance.

I've driven for 200 miles on E. But then again thats cause the sender thingie is bad and doesn't know how much gas I have most of the time. It seems to work better when it's warm though. I'll fix it when I replace the fuel pump, which I'll do after I finally replace the radiator in my truck. Which I'll do the next time it decided to not rain on a day I'm off and it's above 50 degrees.

I'm always cutting it close. Got it to 0 a few times and was scared crapless, just let it roll off the off ramp and into the station. I hit 0 a few times when i had that stupid cel, thing sucked gas like no other. I filled it up after that and the thing kept saying i didn't have any gas, reset the batt and it was normal again.

Cosmo Kramer, is that you?

I generally try to keep my daily driver above a quarter tank, and the Cougar above a half-tank when I'm not on a trip. You never know when some emergency might arise during which you won't be able to stop for gas for some reason. Also, you never know when you're going to get caught in a 6 hour traffic jam or something, and being low on gas is just one more thing to worry about.

I hit 0 all the time. Hell, to me putting more than $5 worth of gas in my car and I call it "modding".

I ran empty a few times, just last week I was a few blocks from my house and the car died. I just let it sit for a few minutes, let the pressure release, and started it back up. Drove another few miles before I finally put gas in it.

i remember an episode of seinfield where kramer found out he could drive a car for 50 miles after it said empty, manufacturers make the gas guage so that it gives you enough gas to drive to a gas station once it reaches zero.

I've driven on 0 for a while and I've also run out of gas when it's said 18 miles to go. Mine is not reliable.

yesterday I was on the interstate just about to get home when the car tried to run out of gas. It was really wierd. The guage said I had 20 miles to go until I ran out, but it bogged down until it was almost dead then BAM it jerked real hard and started driving normally. It continued to do that progressively getting worse each time until I finally coasted into the gas station. I dont know what could be wrong with it. Maybe the guage is just incorrect or maybe my fuel pump is going bad. I dont know.

I run mine down to about 25 miles pretty much every time. Tho on a car trip or two I have run out of gas on the hwy. Not a fun thing to do right outside of okc at 1 am nor wise since im a girl that couldn't kick anyones butt if my life depended on it. Once it hits 0 it is pretty much over for me. Tho recently mine has been running out of gas at about 50. Sucked when I first found that one out. It's probably time for a new fuel pump.
