Any of you lads know what kind of shipping options there are to get an engine from Columbus, Ohio to either Detroit, MI or Buffablow, NY ? Any idea of approximate cost?

I have a line on a 3L, but one of the numerous logistics challenges I face is getting it from Columbus, to my comfy home in Toronto Canada. If I could ship to near the border, it would be pretty easy to go grab it with a trailer.

Thanks for any ideas for you guys that have transported engines...

If it's a shortblock it can be shipped via UPS. If it's a full engine and you or the shipper don't have a shipping account, you can go to fedex freight.

Mine came from Minnesota to Virginia and shipping costs where $130 ($585 for longblock + $130 shipping = $715 total). Depending on the carrier and the willingness of the junkyard to get you a fair price, It shouldn't cost more than $120 for such a short trip.

Con-Way Logistics has a Canadian Arm of their business and should be able to handle customs/tariffs easily since it's the same company. Check out their site: http://www.con-way.com/
