This may seem like a stupid question, but I really have no knowlege of this yet.

I have a large head. (It's not my face that is big, it's my cranium! )I find that I usually need a large helmet if I am going to wear one. So I just have a few questions.

How should a helmet fit? Are there any specific aspects of a helmets fit I should look for, or pay more attention to when I am trying them on?

Does size vary from manufacturer, or style of helmet? (Kind of like how shoes/sneakers vary)

If I am concerned about fit and size, should I find a local dealer to try them on, or should I feel confident that if I get a large online, then I will be getting a large, and thats a standard I can count on?

Hey I have a big head too!
Helmets should fit snug, but not tight..
one way to tell is, when you put it on.
when you wiggle it, your scalp should move
with it.. it shouldn't be able to slide around.
As for sizing, many manufacturers have general
guidelines for measurement.
I bought mine here (http://www.racerwholesale.com/)
Size Chart (http://www.racerwholesale.com/sizechart.html)

It's probably not a bad idea to go somewhere local like a motorcycle retailer and try some helmets on just to get a better idea if you are truly a large.
The people there sell helmets all the time, so they could help you determine which size is too loose, too tight or just right.
