For those of you who don't know, it's a 2way paging alarm with remote start. Now, I'm upgrading my previously installed (by yours truly) alarm system to this one. I only needed to connect 6 wires previously, this I'm counting 30+ Anyone want to take bets on how long it will take me? I still have to bypass my fuel cut relay, and am planning on adding a headlight output relay. Am I testing my electrical skills? Did I go to far? Stay tuned! ha ha

Installed a similar model at COLLEGE with nothing besides what was in my tool kit. Trust me bro, you ll be fine. Just take your time and read the directions. I did it outside in the cold and froze to death, but you ll be fine just take your time.

done.......3 hours and 25 minutes total. I'm quite impressed. However I'm still trying to figure out the remote start deal. I think i'll have to find a way to trick the ecu to thinking the clutch is in. Do'h

Isn't remote starting of MTX vehicles usually considered a big no-no?

hmmmm, ran into slight problem.
Ok, I just installed my remote start system, and it starts but there are a few problems:
1. Foot has to be on clutch. I know I have to bypass this but what's the easiest way rather than taking a voltage on every wire on the clutch connector, then running one from the alarm to it.
2. After car starts it dies about 4 seconds later. My possible thoughts on this are:
a. RPM voltage not learned by my alarm brain
b. Something funky with my fuel cut relay (although bypassed)
c. Somethig funky in the alarm setup.
Everything else is perfect....any ideas?

The only time i would consider a remote start on an mtx a bad thing is when you have no emergency brake and you have to leave it in gear in order to keep it from going anywhere. Besides, i don't know when they first started doing this, but don't most vehicles come with sensors that know when a car is in gear or in neutral? And i think remote starters tap into that sensor.

ALL DONE! total time of 4.5 hours. I had to program my RPM into the comp, and I also had to run a wire to the clutch safety wire. So now I'm all set. Time to show it off to the ricers.
