On the way to work today I got a fist size dent in my hood. I was driving in traffic and a bus was stalled in my lane. I decided to slide in behind a truck in the lane next to me. I was coming in kinda close but should have been fine. Until the guy slammed on his brakes really hard two car lengths from the intersection line. Hard enough that his truck did that front drop, rear-end raising up thingie. Well the very tip of my hood next to my headlight went under his bumper which came down and hit me. At first I thought I'd only tapped the guy. Then when the light turned green he just drove off. I guess he didn't even feel anything. When I got to work I looked and there it was a dent that looked like I punched my car in the nose. Now before anyone gets mad at me for not giving the guy my insurance info he was driving a state roadcrew truck and the only thing I could have hurt was maybe scratched the bottom of his bumper. Now I have to either get my hood fixed and repainted or buy a carbon fiber or fiberglass hood.

Has anyone had their hood repainted if so how much did it cost? Also has anyone had a carbon fiber hood clear coated and how much did that cost?

Oh and by the way I also know this is totally my fault.:stupid:

Hey, sorry to hear about that (the wonderful people we have working for the state). I am not sure sure how much the hood is to paint but i was looking at buying a carbon fiber hood myself, so if you decide to buy one let me know b/c maybe we could get a group rate. (worth a try)

Thanks Sherri. I will try to take my car down to see Mr Freddy tomorrow. Painting a fiberglass hood looks like it might be too expensive so I might just go with the Carbon Fiber or fix this one. It figures I just bought an exhaust, a Sub and diamond plate floor mats or I could just buy the hood with no problems. Oh well. Jessica if I do go for the Carbon fiber I'll see if we can work out some kinda deal. At the very least maybe I can go pick them up from James and save on shipping. My mom lives in Dale city, Va which is only like 20 miles from Fredericksburg so I could take my truck and run down there. I'll let you know.

I don't know if James has the hoods in stock at his house though... A lot of the time he has them shipped right from the manufacturer.
Good luck, tell Mr. Freddy we said hi. :)

i hate when people stop like that i had an old lady do that to me one night in the rain when i had my truck my front bumper hit her rear window i perty much ran her car over. I had my hood painted its fiberglass i dont think it was to much all depends where you go i know they have to paint the whole front clip to make the paint blend in to the old paint ill look for my old bill tonight

Yeah Adam I was afraid I might have to get something like that done. If I thought painting just the hood cost a lot I don't even wanna guess the price of the whole front. I didn't make it to see Mr Freddy yet. I work too much. I might just have to get a bra for a while to cover it while I save money to get this done.

Worst part is I usually stay back, cause I don't want to hurt my car. Figures the time I get to close I pick a guy that likes to slam his brakes.
