Well, although I don't know when I will be out there, I do now know that I will be for sure, as I am now a Certified Peregrine Engineer. I took the never-ending exam on Friday and got a 95%. I will be the first one to say it wasn't an easy test.
Rumors are floating around that I might fly out for a few weeks, coming home on weekends before the big move. But, I will keep you guys updated. I still have this D&B card in my wallet. I suppose we could go there but, honestly would like to see what else there is to do. I figure we'll go back there again soon anyway.
This time it would be cool to stay out of that particular county in MD, So I can smoke at the bar. (I think there would be an uprising in WI if that ever happened) So maybe we can have a mini meet with just those that enjoy the bar atmosphere. I think that could be fun if we go to the right places. Sherri has to come though, or I'm not going ;)
I was thinking Georgetown. I know for some of you that area has probably been played out, but I heard its cool so I wanted to check it out. This way we can just walk from place to place. :) Someone may have to drive me home tho...
Just an idea,
Chris

Congratulations, Chris! I can just imagine passing that exam is a weight off your shoulders...if you feel even the least bit like I did when I passed the CPA (although I'd expect your exam was more difficult :)), then I'd certainly be in a very happy place!
Okay, as for a bar meet, Georgetown is good, but pricey. My main suggestion (just because of the ambiance, and we are a car club) would be Carpool in Arlington.
edit: I hope it won't be the weekend of April 17th; as you can imagine, I need to blow off some tax season aggression, so I'm leaving for Myrtle Beach for a few days at noon on April 15th after we close the office.

It probably won't happen until may. I don't know whats going on as of now. Noone seems to tell me anything.
Thanks for the congrats, much appreciated. Yea, it was stressful and I feel much better. Hope to see you all soon!

 You used "ambiance" and "Carpool" in the same sentence! A friend of mine lived in an apartment literally across the street from the Carpool, so he has a slightly different opinion. :) I'm definitely going to have to pass that comment along - he'll get a kick out of it. (I didn't think the Carpool was that bad when I was there years ago, but I imagine hearing it at 2 a.m. when you're trying to sleep is a different matter.)
Arlington is home to the only buffet-style/Mongolian BBQ restaurant I like: Flat Top Grill. It's quite good - if you haven't been there, I highly recommend it. And I normally hate having to trek to get my own food. Maybe a Flat Top-to-Carpool meet is in order?

Tara and I will be flying out there this weekend, hopefully finalizing living arrangements. Shes going back on Sunday to spend mothersday with Christian, I will be working at HUD through Wednesday. Then if everything is cool with finding a place, we'll do the big move the following weekend (14th - 17th). I am definitely not looking forward to driving 15 hours to move out there. I will be extremely happy when its over.
We'll see what happens for this weekend. We still might be taking that condo in skyline square (probable). I'll keep everyone updated :)

well then you're just "separating" and not leaving the company all together :) of course, there will be new people out here, but i'm sure it'll be just as fun out here, once you break them in ;)

I know that was sarcasm but, here is a list of goings on right now.
Certified Peregrine Implementation Consultant (Always looking for peregrine peoples)
Application Developer and Support Services
Help Desk Specialist
Help Desk QA Analyst
System Specialist III
System Specialist II
LAN/Network Specialist
Windows 2000 System Administrator
Most of these are hires in the Bethesda area, I am not sure how up to date this list is however, some of these positions are old. We fill a lot of our positions in just a few days notice and they never make it to the posting. (the sooner we place'em the sooner we make more money) Let me know if you have any marketable skills, I will keep you informed on opens (that goes for everyone)
There are two cool things about this company.
#1 We have never laid off anyone in the companies 11 year history ( No Joke )
#2 If you work hard enough you will be promoted constantly.
The company is getting into some exciting fields now. The US military is one, get to deal with some amazing technology. (Security Level 5?) Believe it or not the owners now have their own property company in its infancy, with a nightclub to add to their list of property. (Chicago)
Not a bad way to diversify if you ask me.

Yea, that is true, I just think people will miss me from this office. I am pretty much everyone b!tch here. Soon as someone gets in trouble they come to me. Its weird like that, there are people here with years more experience in things, but I help them out with my "problem solving". . Which is cool I guess, it just sucks that I get pulled away from my desk every 3 mintues to help someone out of the sh!t they caused.

As I look out my office window at the Washington Monument I think to myself.. Man I haven't really got loaded out here yet. Well not twice anyway. Actually, more like 5 times. But with noone from back home!
There is a ton of places to go, if you need to stay sober for some reason, there are places for that too. Adams Morgan for instance is a lot like our waterstreet, just a lot more culture. Most everyone is either wasted or waiting in line to get wasted.
As soon as we get all unpacked and settled I will be in the mode. We have to go to Brickskeller - no doubt. Supposedly the largest commercially available amount of beer in the world (Guiness World Record Holder) Beer from like 2.50 a bottle to 50.00 a bottle.

Great choice...I love that place. Last time I was there, they were up to 1,000 beers from around the world. The food is great, and it's close to Metro (which is good in case you sample too many of their choices). Just get there early, it gets pretty crowded, especially on weekends.

Chris whenever it is that I finally get out there we'll have to go out for sure. It's just right now I want to keep searching for a house whenever possible. Once I get that all done and situated then I can come out there. But like I said before as long as I can work alot of OT I won't be available for awhile. I need to pay off the 450R asap. That'll help with the loan applications. But anyways yeah I really want to get out there, but it's gonna take time as usual. So are all the bars really packed around there all the time? I'm not one for huge crowds and rowdy drunks. But then again when I get really tanked I usually offend most people:biggrin:
