I searched, and I can't find the size....it looks to me like a 1/4th" hex head, but when I tried this, it seemed to strip immediately!! Am I using the wrong size or what?

I just did a quick search to and found nothing, I know it used to be here, I printed it off when I did mine. I dont remember what size it was, but I am thinking 3/8" for some strange reason. GMK is correct about metric, but i think that is what I used. I can look when I go to the garage, then I'll post later today if you havent gotten an answer yet.

If it's the same size as the Zetec............it's a 5mm hex.

yes 3/8 IS larger and since the bolt is a hex head, the socket goes inside the hex, making the 1/4 inch strip, so therefore, shutup, you need a larger on than 1/4 inch if it strips.

Thank you!

Good Job! Have fun with the gauges. The sender unit went in fine for me AFTER I had to cut the PCV tray tube down a bit, it was too close, I couldnt thread the sending unit in. But its all good now, oh, make sure you tighten it up enough, mine leaked a little and smelled like burnt oil the next couple of days, then I went back in and retightened it a little.

Actually a hex head bolt looks like any standard bolt with the 5 sided head. The correct name for what Keliente is probably talking about is called a socket head cap screw. so you shutup, and your quite welcome :)

Just for my own piece of mind, why did you go with the mechancial oil pres guage?

price?

I ask b\c if something goes wrong you very well could end up with oil all over your interior. And that's not a pretty site!!

Ah, the all mighty dollar

yeah it was the price. I got them in the group buy a while back. Oil, Temp, Volt for about $50.

So could anyone explain how to hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge.
