You'll need a lot more horsepower!
A 3.0L swap should do the trick ;)

I got a 15.6 before the SVT stuff. I have a MTX. I would think maybe headers

Weight reduction will help a bit....check out the thread in the Drag Section

I also think weight reduction plays a key.
Like removing the aweful, heavy pre-cats for headers. That saves a lot of weight.
Also replacing the stock Y-pipe to cat back with an aftermarket catless piece saves a bunch. Remember to wrap the aftermarket piece since it does not retain the stock heatshield.
There's ~40lbs weight reduction and some significant power improvement throughout the entire powerband.
You also should be in or close to the 14's with a good launch.

and dont carry a lot of stuff in your car... if you want a street racer, then dont fill your hatch with amps and subs!

My car must be a freak. I have a 2002 MTX v6 bone stock at the time and it ran a 15.41, off the showroom floor, I since have installed a CAI and it seems to me faster but I yet ran it with this mod.

I think you should gut the cats or get headers, and do alot of weight reduction. It will allow you to run closer to that time, but i dont think you will hit that time without FI or a motor swap. Heads and cams will net you a good amount also, but it would be more cost efficient to run nitrous.

I just went to opening day for the track and my best time was a 15.22. I was running with 93 oct. and I did take out my spare tire and I don't have any amps or subs, just stock there. I think I can drop some time by shifting better so I am not that far off with my mods. So no an engine swap is not needed to get 14.99. I am now thinking that Headers and y-pipe will get me there and I will be happy.
The WRX ran a 13.48 and that was done by my fiance, should be in the 12's by the end of the year, if funds become available.

15.22 isnt bad at all...headers should net you at least another .2 seconds.
With some serious weight reduction and some nice sticky tires you should do well

Yeah but my Miata is going to badasss when done. I have a 1990 Miata that I am putting a Mustang 5.0 with t5 tranny. I have the subframe done and the body trimmed now I am working on rebuilding the 5.0. Wiring is pretty much done. I drove a customers, that came end that had a "monster" Miata very similar to the one that I am building, hard for traction and 1st gear means nothing but a smoke show but he went best with a 12.36 @125MPH, what killed him was his 60foot times. That was a "stock" 5.0 out if 1992 Mustang, running on 14s.
