one thing I've always loved about the cougar is how much stuff you can pack into it.

but theres 2 things I've moved that were simply huge: a 125gal fishtank, and a 10ft pull-out couch. The couch was crazy, I had to move it 10 miles and the only other option was carrying it (which really wasnt an option). I managed to jam it in the trunk just far enough that the arm rest was underneith the hatch bar. There was a good 7ft of couch sticking out the back at a 30 degree angle. You want to talk about changing the balance of the car. It felt like I was driving a bus.

Oh I also managed to fit 7 full kegs of beer in the car. That was proof that weight reduction is a big deal, that 1000 pounds of beer really slowed the car down.

nice...I can feel the difference with passengers in the car...performance just disapears...I cant imagine an extra 1000 pounds

ehh, no it was 7 kegs. Usually we would just get them delivered but it was kinda a rush order (and for reference, a jeep wrangler can fit 6). So it took 1 trip in the cougar, and 2 trips in the jeep to throw this party

and it was funny, because on the way home, I get some guy pull up next to me and start revving his engine, and asking how I liked the new cougars. So the light turns green and guns it (well as much gunning as those crappy dodge dusters can do). And of course, he's giving me crap at the next light, and its like "dude, what do you expect, I'm pulling a 1000 pounds of beer".

It wasnt so much that the acceleration was crap, it was the breaks (especially only rear drums). I dont think I have ever had to dig that hard on the breaks. The car had so much momentum on it, I truely was the silver bullet.

I fit 8 dining chairs in mine - AND the hatch didn't even have to be tied down. It closed perfectly! It did take me about an hour to get them to all fit though!

ive had 10 people in my contour, with 2 12s in the trunk

it was for a short distance, i dont like driving like that

1 in the trunk w/ subs

3 in the front seat

6 in the back seat (i still dont know how they all fit)

the car was slower, but the torque my 3L makes managed to still have the car not too slow!

You could fit 7 kegs EASY.

I remember comming back hom from school. I had a 19" tv, my computer/printer/17" moniter, clothes, nintendo 64, posters, and all sorts of crap loaded up in there with the rear seats down, and my dad rode with me all the way back. the car was packed, but the ride was still great. actually I bet she handled a little better with the added weight ;)

I used to put my mountain bike in the back of my car regularly, until I put in the RSTB. On autocross days my typical load is 4 wheels w/ tires, a 3 ton floor jack, jack stand, medium sized cooler, large rubbermaid container for misc tools and my helmet bag with plenty of room to spare.

The back of the hatch compartment is a bit more than 6 feet from the back of the front seats. Useful information. :)

I've gotten some boxes that were 8' long in, but not very large otherwise. Also, one time I carried my ex-girlfriend's new dining room table and 6 chairs - the chairs were unassembled in 3 boxes, but we had to take the table out of the box to fit it. Oh, yeah, she was riding in the passenger seat.

Hatchbacks are great for carrying stuff. :)

When I had the cougar, I had to make a 5 1/2hr road trip carrying 7 17" monitors with 7 work stations, keyboards, mice, speakers, and network junk. Cougar was slammed heheh.
