Hey guys, i just got back from autozone and got a code of catalyst flow excessive (bank 1) or something along that line. Just wondering what it means and how i can fix it

DPFE Sensor.. you can buy one at autozone as well... it's basically a malfunctioning EGR valve sensor.. easy to install.. it'll take you 15 minutes with basic hand tools

The DPFE tells the ecu when the EGR valve is open or closed... it wouldnt be able to tell 'catalyst flow'

What code would you get if you didn't use MIL Eliminators after installing headers?

Yes, Neil, it does. The DPFE is just that- Differential Pressure Feedback EGR... It tells the computer whether or not the EGR valve is flowing at the amount specified by the vacuum signal given by the computer by measuring the pressure differential between the two tubes that connect from the DPFE sensor to the EGR sample tube. If the two don't match, then the computer flags a "flow excessive" or "flow insufficient" error code.

What I fail to understand is why in the hell they put a relatively expensive electronic part, more prone to failure than what it's measuring in the path of a cheap, easy to replace mechanical vacuum switch (EGR)... Typical... :rolleyes:

WOAH! My bad! :banghead: I need more sleep...

Thought it said "EGR" not "catalyst"... Sounds like a funny error code.. Never heard of it. Do you have a code number Pxxxx and the exact phrase of the error that goes with it?

Ha perfect, i actually orderd a dpfe sensor off ebay a coulple days ago. This was the second time getting the car diagnosed and the excessive flow code was additional to the egr flow or whatever. The first time i didnt notice getting this second error message. wierd

oh isht.. that's right.. he said catalyst flow excessive.. I coulda sworn he said EGR valve excessive..
