Any body have an how-to for changing the green of the Park, Revers, Neutral, etc letters on the atx panel thing by the shifter?

Back in the day...the letters on the automatic consoles were individually colored plastic and a white light moved with the shifter to shine through...I can't say that is how these Cougars are. If they still are that way, you would have to replace the colored plastic letters.

if that is the case scratch the color off the lens so it will be clear then change the color of the light.

Yours are green mine ar clear with a little red peice of plastic that moves up and down as I shift

just swap the lightbulb... you will need to count your clicks though as the entire area will glow the new color and not just the letter of the gear you are in.

Agreed and disagreed ...
First off, yes definetly swap the bulb. It will make it glow what ever color bulb you put in. As far a shifting, it should still have that little tap to let you know what gear your in. Such as mine, i did it in red. I can see red, and then there is almost like an orange/red (very noticable) on my gear so i know what grear i'm in.

why not just take a pice of black tape, or paint(with a paint brush) a little black line where the old one was.

I used to have a red bulb in there and it all glowed the same color.. there was no noticable difference to me.. I pulled it out and it remains dark now. LOL

My bulbs out for now till I can find some pressure switches:biggrin: then there will be some cool ish going on right there.

I put in some blue bulbs from Autozone - they still had the same green tint. So for the folks who changed bulbs and got thier green tint to change, what did yall do?

Or... buy an MTX leather boot that looks nice and is the color you like and get rid of that ugly shift plate!

the letters/#'s have green paint to give them that color. You would have to sand it off the plastic strip and either use a colored filter or a bulb to change the color...

It would be really cool to have individual LEDs that light up in there showing what gear your in. Any ideas?

buy some performance mods instead :flushed:
