Well after getting back from class this morning after I got out of my car I stepped back to take a look at it since I had just washed and waxed it two days ago and it had rained yesterday, I wanted to see if it still looked good. Well what do I see but a puddle of reddish colored fluid rapidly developing under my car. My car was bleeding to death. Thank god I purchased the two year warranty when I bought it a little over a year ago, it looks like its going to pay off.

I believe problem started when I was at a stop sign, I came to a stop waited for my turn, and when I went t go it seemed like something slipped and didn't catch right, they it caught it jerked a little and went on its merry way. Everything seemed fine during the 10 minute drive from school to my apartment until I got out and noticed the puddle. Could someone enlighten me to what may have just happened.

Oh..and my car is an ATX

Thanks,
Dan

Check to see where the fluid is coming from, it could also be coolant leaking.

The guy who towed my car agreed that it was trans fluid.

Jeez, sorry Dan. Indeed it is great news that your warranty is still in effect.. Hope you're not out of a car for too long...

Just another of the reasons I like my 5-speed manual ;)

One can't own a Cougar without a GOOD warranty.. they are expensive to maintain.

Well, I just got back from the dealership picking up a rental car. Apparently the problem was that someone along the way cut one of the transmission hoses and half ass coupled it back together, this in turn somehow caused the fluid to blow back out through the dipstick, I'm not so convinced of that, but that's what their claiming. I guess on the plus side since it was in there I got them to replace the window relay under warranty, and since they were checking out the tranny I had them take a look at the starter and the flexplate because I was getting that grinding/whinnying noise from time to time, and the car wouldn't start up, and they did find those two parts were trashed. So that's going to be replaced under warranty too.

When I pulled out the dipstick before it was towed, I'm pretty sure the dipstick was still firmly in place. Now I am the second owner of the car and I have had the car almost a year and half, and I have only had major service done by them, and oil changes done by Tuffy ( i know I should do it myself, but I got a really good deal on the oil changes). What do you guys think about their story. Granted it only going to cost me $75 on top of my warranty deductible for this hose and what not, but I would still like you guys opinion.
