I go to Jerry's Subs a lot (okay, too often), and I've noticed a blue Cougar parked at the Wachovia right next to Jerry's, in the employee spots. The Wachovia is located at the Kings Highway/Route 1 intersection.

It has clear side turn signal lenses and the "Cougar" is spaced out across the back, but those might be stock. (Did Mercury do make stock Cougars with those features? I think this one is a C2 - it's definitely an '01 or '02.)

The license plate is Virginia "LOVDLFN", if I remember correctly. It's definitely a sharp-looking car, and I don't think I've ever seen a speck of dirt on it. Anyone know the car/owner?

On a side note, is there a "spotters guide" anywhere for all the variations like C2, etc?

The "COUGAR" spacing is aftermarket. The clear sidemarkers I believe can be stock, depending on the package. It's been a while since there was the big ferver on which packages came with what options, so my memory is rusty.

That cougar is 100% stock. Look at the steering wheel insert, It will say 35th Anniversary. Also the side pillar on the outside where normally there is a C2 badge or a Zn badge, there will be a 35th Badge.

Very few Blue 35th were made, but they are out there. The cougar spacing is completely stock. The cougar support group in flatrock Michigan saw on of NECO's cars at cougarfest. (DEviousDev?) With the spacing and they incorporated it in the 35th model.

Also check out the wheels, they look very C2 but for a limited time they made the C2 pattern wheel (basically Zn without paint) in a 17" wheel. Very sweet wheels, to expensive to buy for me tho, at least right now. Plus for that much money you can get a decent set of 18's - would not be worth it.

They came with two tone leather seats, roush (now visteon owned) spoiler. Cougar head or words etched into the front and rear window, clear side markers, V6 badge under the side marker. I think thats pretty much it.

Methinks I need a closer look at that car. :) Chris, I have the odd feeling you're exactly right on every count. There is a badge on the pillar, but I don't know what it is.

If I had more guts, I'd go into the bank and try to talk to the owner...
