Hey all,
I am posting about a little problem I have with my Sub.
When it hits, my interior lights dim a bit. I don't really care about that. However, lately, my headlights dim and it is noticeable - to me anyway.
Anyone know what I can do to stop this?
I got a new alternator and new DieHard battery this past October. The amp and sub are Sony Explode series, 760W and 900W respectively.
THanks for any input!

I used to have the same problem. Then I got a yellow top optima as a second battery. I haven't touched my alternator and I have no more dimming headlights.

Get a cap. Get 2. Me, I have 5. No dimming what-so-ever.

i dont think an extra 30 amp draw will cause the problem

Its definately a cap problem. You're running 1660 watts of amp power. That's alot! I'm running 2800 watts, with five 1 farad, 24 volt caps. And no dimming.

i would be willing to bet it is the wires at the alt like every other diming light problem or a bad ground....a 900 watt sony amp will only have a 30 or 40 amp draw MAX at maximum output.....i dont see how this would affect the cars electrical so severely....maybe if he had all his lights on his rear def his heater basting a neon kit on and a lot more amps then there would be a heavy enough draw that the alt couldnt keep up...our car should easily be able to handle that amp....a cap will help (cover the problem anyway)
i would say check all your wires at the alternator and battery first and check the ground on your amp as well make sure the wires are gauged properly for the amp and length of wire...if that didnt work i would have a look at the how to's i posted before....i would make sure you dont have a more serious problem then power drain before putting a cap on..

Before I added my caps, my lights dimmed so much it looked like strobe lights.
2 caps later not the slightest dimming

yea if you press the power windows up/down the lights dim a LOT. I don't know about the cap idea. My amplifier only pushes out 650 watts and the lights still flicker with my 1 farad cap. I think it's an alternator problem, it's too weak. I also have a yellow top.

When I added the first cap I still had the flickering, then I added the second. It stopped the flickering. I'm running stock alt and batt. Im running close to 1500 watts, 9 neon tubes, and 36 LED's.
