i have been talking with HPA Motorsports about getting a lamborgini door kit developed for the 99-02 mercury cougar and i have been told that its a long way off unless they get more feedback from customers seeking a mercury cougar specific application. lsd@hpamotorsport.com there is there email address if i could get as many people as possible to send their interest on to this address sites like custom cougars may be able to offer this part if it gets developed and that means more kool mods for everyone yay! so please do what you can to load up that email box.....thanks in advance

let me guess: pussywhipped, you are 16 and have no money to mod your car with and even if by some crazy chance lambo doors were available, you wouldn't be able to buy them. :thumbsdn:

you'd think that with all the people on here who have said "I have been talking to xxx company about developing lambo doors for the cougar, but I need more people who are interested...", they would have been developed years ago!

I think it's funny you say crazy people and our lambo doors because I already have a kit cougar specific sitting in my room. I designed them in my mechanical engineering course. They work nicely but need to be painted and re-installed before I take pics.

BTW... only took about 40 hrs of labor and about $300 for parts. The $300 includes screw up metal and unused materials in the final piece.

wow thanks for the responses guys that really helps alot....who cares how old i am, but thanks for the assumption...i just thought it would be easier to try and talk a company into making a kit, rather than using one from the 1992-1995 honda civic, maybe you shouldnt assume that because i have so few posts that i am a newbie...because ive been reading these boards for years and just never decided to post until more recently when my car is finally getting nice enough to discuss, but through help and support of people like you I get a headache and now have to go to bed.

U must not read the boards cuz there is like 30+ other people trying to get this kit for our car. But with a price tag of $3000+ no one is gonna just for it.

me too! but i just want to see pics first!

ND4SPD

and thats the second problem... even when people say they have the parts and can do the conversion... we still never see any pictures.

- i call alot of people crazy  i mean it in the nicest way though - but its DEFINITELY crazy to be sitting on a way you could make hundreds of dollars, and not even post pictures!
I like to think that i was one of the first people who jumped on the lambo doors bandwagon... now i still think they are cool, but i dont really want them... for my own reasons, but if i could make sets for $300 bucks, i would invest in making 10 kits, and sell them for like... $500 bucks a shot!

and even if you just wanted to keep the design and glory to yourself - i would definitely at least have them on my car without delay... or at least pictures! heh...

Because you don't have to be a member to read the forums :kick:

I don't care to make money off of this mod. Like I said it was a project for my college course. The reason pictures haven't been posted is because the parts need to be finalized. i have the hinges built but have yet to completely finish the project. As soon as they are done I'll post pictures of the hinges and then shortly there after post pictures with the kit on my car.

BTW... I'm willing to hook up everyone on these boards. I don't care to be the best cougar out there I'm just trying to built the car that I truely like.

Sorry for not saying anything sooner but I wasn't going to say anything at all until the pictures were posted then I read this thread and got kinda irritated simply because I used to be that guy that said "dude we need lambo doors."

do you have any of the schematics and measurements for this hinge hamann?, i would be interested just to see them...to see if i could email companies and find something remotely closer than that civic i spoke of and modify it because my shop date is for the middle of may, and once my side skirts are molded doing this mod will be difficult...lol

My side skirts are molded and fitment wasn't too difficult. I am sure it is harder than if they weren't but not too bad. As for measurements of the hinge I give them too you as soon as I get home from school tomorrow.

if all 30+ people and all their friends and grandmothers e-mailed the same companies at the same time and had a great deal of organization and thought things out reasonably. A lambo application for a cougar door would be available more than not. And I don't think you've been reading this forum for years...if your 16 now, that makes you 13 or 14 when you began visiting this site and that means you were already strongminded about buying a cougar..why that would be I have no idea, let alone not having a cougar yet and reading technical and modification details for years w/o asking questions. ahh - who cares. more power to you. hope you can convince some company...best of luck!

im just gonna take a wild guess that he's over 16, cuz they dont offer MECHANICAL ENGINEERING classes in high school, at least not that i've ever heard of. i say we give the guy a break, let him get the design all done and we can all be lambo'd up. if it all falls through, than so be it.

This Lambo Kit (http://www.autoloc.com/products/lambo.lasso) made by Autoloc claims to be universal ....the kit includes alot more than hinges tho.... seems to go for a little over $2K (just for the parts) ....

because of the shape of the cougar doors, the doors would have to go out, then up i think ...cool as hell if you can pull it off

I have seen another pic of a coug w/ lambo doors on the forum ( click here to see pics (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=11&threadid=73805&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE=&STARTPAGE=2) )earlier (and the car was modded probably just as much...

My Point:

Yes....it can be done....However if you don't have a custom kit on your car or a kit that makes it somewhat simple (bolt on or slight mod) then why bother discussing the concept.

Sorry for venting, but I would like lambo's and the discussions I have heard on them so far are as useless as the altezza light discussions...i.e. it is all BS until you have it done w/ pics.

Oh yeah...and by the way the above link w/ the pic that is selling info can be bought off ebay for around $5 and is useless....how do I know...about a year ago I bought it.

I saw that car completely finished but didn't have a camera with me. I wish I would've cause it's not the greatest looking cougar I've ever seen but the doors were my inspiration.
