I want to paint the stock black engine cover red, and paint the lettering black. Is there any type of special paint that I should use when doing this. Like heat resistant or something? Also has anyone ever put a braided hose kit on their cougar? I was thinking about doing that. DO you think that would look good or should I just go with the color hose kits instead.

You need to use high heat paint. It is avalable anywhere, usualy resists like up to 900 degres.
I too have been interested in a braided hose kit. Dont know where to get it though and I would like to see a pic of it on a cougar first.

You CAN use high temp for the engine cover, i used regualr duplicolor and made sure i primed and clearered it with high temp stuff...as long as you clear and prime it with high temp you'll be alright

wal mart will have some but very limited colors. i did however find something at wal mart that i used to paint the letters on the cover
duplicolor sells scratch fix kits that have a small paint bottle with a brush in it like finger nail polish it makes it real easy to do the letters
home depot and lowes probably wont carry that kind of paint either( the ones here dont anyway) so try autozone or pep- boys

if you want to do the letters with high heat paint and can't get a scratch kit with a brush, just buy a small brush and spray the paint into the lid and brush it on that way
