Well yesterday i found out that ether my timing chain or cam gear is going out and it will cost about a grand to fit it. Man that was just not my day. Soo I'm thinking about getting a 3 L motor that I found, Prices might be the same since I know pull and install a motor... STILL this just sucks. Sooo I don't think I will make it to a meet for a while. I just hope that I have everything fixed by fest. Pray for me

Ya I know. I was looking on car-parts.com and I found a 3l engine with 3k miles for about $500. Also what is a hybrid build up??? i was reading alittle in the 3l performance tread and i didn't see anything

do more research, there's plenty of information there - including a sticky on how to do it....

That really blows man. There are more than enough people here on this board and in your chapter that are willing to help you in any way we can. If you are going to do a full 3L you need a 96-99 24 valve motor, not a 16 valve moter. A 3L hybrid is a 3L block and and 2.5L heads and upper/ lower intakes. A 3L hybrid is a lot easier to do than a full 3L, but does not make quite the numbers a full 3L does.

i thought the hybrid made more power b/c of the higher compression created by the 2.5 heads.....

I thought this was correct as well.

Sucks you have to spend money but good in that you have an excuse to get a 3L.

The 2.5 Hybrid makes 185hp and the full 3.0 makes 200hp.

Thanks for the support guys. I think I'm going to fix the cams and timing chain. And to save money I'll do the work myself, so if anyone with knowledge of 2.5l motors CAN HELP I have the tools and a good idea of what to do. Also does anyone know if they make performance cams for the v6. I'm thinking around april is when I can get this fixed (when I have the money).

p.s off-topic but you won't believe how many rice burners are running around with these 2 foot wings on there car, I went up to one of then and said do you get flyer miles with that on your car, he said well it adds downforce (on a fwd car) and all i could do was give him was a blank face and i couldn't what i was hearing.

CTA motor sports only make intake cams only, not exhaust cams. What is up with that?
NASCARSigep if you want to help me I'll buy the

just looked up up on the map. Lake Park is way the hell up there. lol.

I haven't torn into a 2.5 that far but if you need a helping hand just let me know.

It would be fun to dig in that far.

Brantly, you say that it would be fun... but I think that is just because it isn't your engine!

I suppose your right. If it was mine I would call it a learning experiance haha...

I love working on engines though. I've never gotten that far into an overhead cam engine before.. it would definatly be an experiance.

whats the deal with the comment on those 2 foot high spoilers and aftermarket bumper? My spoiler is only 13 inches high.. thats just a nidge over a foot  any higher than that and I would slap myself with a ricecop.com ticket

Oh ya i forgot to ask how much are the cams and i WILL try to make i t down there to the meet in april(I HOPE) so i can have people help me work on my car with me.

And crispy, i forgive you for your spoiler, but from what everyone says your car is pimp so i guess i'll let you get away with it

I am not quite sure on the price of the cams, but they are designed primarily for forced induced cars. Getting a 3-5 angle valve job and getting your stock cams knife edged will give you better results.
