I see that there is an event called CougarFest and I've seen a lot of pictures from this event but all I have seen are the 99-02 Cougars. If this is CougarFest where are the other Cougars? Come on there were 30 years worth of Cougars before the New Edge Cougar came along.

CougarFest originated through the members on NECO. While it is open to all Cougar owners old and new, the majority if not all of those that attend the event are members of New Edge Cougar Owners.
Welcome to NECO. :)

Hmm I understand then why I hadn't really heard about it since I have a '92 Cougar. It's kind of like Cat Jam is mostly Fox Cougars.

i personally would LOVE to see more of EVERY kind of cougar at the shows, but i dont think this event is advertised outside of this message board :(

I have a 99.....maybe that would explain why I have never heard nor been invited to either of those events

Well for more info on Cat Jam go to www.coolcats.net the guy who runs the site has held this event for two years now, great site too with some info on all Cougars. He also has an truly awesome 1986 Cougar Convertible that I would consider killing for, real nice guy I've talked to him a couple times. As for the 1989-1997 Cougars (MN12 chasis) I usually check out www.tccoa.com but it seems like mostly Thunderbird owners there. A good forum for all Cougar owners is at www.cougarnuts.com Though I don't own a new edge Cougar and will probably never own one because of the small size I still can appreciate Cougars of many shapes and sizes.
If I recall correctly, didn't some of our board once get into a rather large argument with the cougarnuts people??

I never heard about that. It may have happened before I found out about the site. If it did happen it is probably because people got into an argument about which year(s) are best. I figure everyone has their own taste.

The older cougar that showed up for this years Cougarfest left a bad taste in my mouth. He seemed to be an opportunist looking for free stuff more than anything else. Plus there's a generational gap between body styles that makes it harder to mingle at large events. Just my observations.

Do you know about what year Cougar the older one was? You also said that there is a generational gap, I'm 25 and I drive a 1992 Cougar that I have been working on for a few years. With the 89-97 Cougars I've found that the people who own them range in age from 18-65. What is the typical age of the people that drive the 99-02 Cougars?

You are correct, sir. Though I can't remember exactly when or why this happened...however, personally I think the older Cougars are great, too. I did have a '93 XR7 that was a tank, I loved that car.

I have no problem with any year Cougar attending. I've seen 1st hand what the older Cougars think about the new bodystyles. I approached the Tn Cougar Club here in Nashville about attending. I was told..nope...not interested in the new body styles joining up.
I told the guy "oh well...your loss" He told me that the new body style wansn't a real Cougar...too bad I beat all of them.

See that kind of crap is just unnecessary, especially since the Cougar Club of America is open to all years of Cougars. I might not like certain years of Cougar, heck the 1981 station wagon is down right embarrassing. But I am accepting of it because it is part of Cougar history.

That is exactly what I recall........New Edge Cougars were not "REAL" Cougars

This would never work ... The cars are so distinctly different that they have nothing in common other than the name.

Does that mean we should also exclude the 79-82 Cougars since they aren't like any other Cougars? I still see no reason why a Cougar event can't be all inclusive. Can't we all just get along.

yeah, maybe its just me, but i'd like to see ALL model years of cougars... old, new, modded, stock :)
Maybe it's just me, but I definitely want it to remain 99-02's only. We have absolutely nothing in common with any other year Cougar. I go to see the cars and meet the people that we all interact with on these boards.

I'd personally love to see some of the older Cougars at any of our events. I think our car was a throwback to the original - not a clone of a Ford - Cougar.
And, I'd love to park a '68 with the Boss 302 engine (I think that's the year it was made for SCCA Trans Am racing) in my garage next to my '99!!
