My "boss" at my National Guard unit just called me today to inform me that one of my co-workers, good friend and college mate drowned this weekend. Once again it adds perspective to this world and snaps you back into reality. I think the worse part is that I was going to help him study for an exam in one of our college classes that we sit next to each other in. It's going to be lonely now -- in class and out-and-about -- without seeing his happy-go-lucky smile and his trademark, "What's up Specialist."

Just thought I needed to vent....

I'm taking it well. The seat in my finance class is kind of lonely and I'm going to try to get on the list to go to Africa and "help" bury him.

It's such a tragic loss for someone who always had a smile on his face.

I really hope that you will be able to make that trip so that you can formally say goodbye. You are in my prayers

They're apparently holding a funeral about an hour away from here. I really would like to go to that at least. I hate missing classes but small price to pay....
