I recently put on a CTA intake on my '00 cougar. I thought i read somewhere that the IAT is in the MAF on the cougars later than '99. Since i could not find my IAT when unhooking the stock intake, I assumed this is true. Is it? I bought it used from scottina99 and his IAT just plugged into the spot for it. Now if the IAT is in the MAF i have this plug in it for the IAT, do i just leave it there or do i take it out and seal off the hole??

So you didnt have the IAT that plugged into the accordian tube on the bottom?(on stock intake) I dont know anything about 2000 ^ Cougars so that may be true. Give CTA a call.

Intake Air Temp
It should be part of the MAF. My car has a 6 wire MAF so it has IAT as part of it. I believe 4 wire MAFs have a seperate temp sensor.

I had none either, although on the cta website, i think they say if the harness that plugs into your MAF has 6 prongs, the IAT is built in. I think so anyways, I told them I had the 6 prong, so they sent me a pipe without that extra hole...
EDIT: I would think that taking it out and sealing the hole would be better performance wise, because it couldn't obstruct the airpath, but If you take it out and put a big piece of tape on it, it wouldn't look that good, would it? I used to have a weapon r intake, and I had that extra hole, I just bought some aluminum tape (shiny, looks like the finish on the intakes) and laid a couple of squares over the hole. It worked pretty good. Hope that helps. -Nate
