Hey guys, this guy just got a Eclipse Turbo AWD in town and he thinks his car is the sh*t. I ask him if he wanted to run for some money and he accepted (1000 dollars). Anyway, we are racing in a couple months and I would like to know what mods I will have to do to beat him. Turbo? Supercharger?..... Anyway, I know he has done some stuff to his car, full exhaust, 20g turbo, fuel mods, transmission mods (its a auto), and probably more than that..... But I have 6000 to spend on my car, and all i have now is the basic mods, exhaust, air intake. What do you all think?

i second that. don't those cars run mid 14's factory? and it would be even faster if he has all of that done to it. right?
you're gonna need a 3.0liter conversion with a lot of work done to it, probably a supercharger. and don't forget about transmission components, and probably some suspension mods, and better tires. i think that would help alot.

What if I run NOS with a Supercharger. He told someone his car runs low 13s, and by the time we race it should be high 12s.

You'll need much more then 6k. A 12 second front wheel drive car would have so much wheel hop it would be uncontrollable. People with 300hp to the wheels are barely braking into the 13 second range. You would need a big shot of nitrous on top of that 300hp 3L turbo/supercharger and even then its a long shot. Maybe if you raced him on the highway with all those mods you could win.

the turbo eclipse engine with a 20g turbo will produce over 400hp.
your going to need a turbo..gutted interior and slicks if you even want to hope to keep up.

who was it that came on here saying this guy with a Civic wanted to race him for money, and what mods should he do?
that's like a carbon copy of his post, only it's an eclipse AWD instead of a civic now.
same dollar amount, too, IIRC

don't buy anything! go out there and race him for pink slips and then go buy another car that can have a chance at the eclipse and then race him.

Run away....why do people bet money on a car they don't have yet plus....you have no idea what his car would be capable of after the "break time"

I have seen an eclipse very similar to the car you are speaking of running 12.5's all day long at the track, You could see the car twist off the line.
You sir, ARE SCREWED!

Loco stated it best. Even if you get all the mods you can for your Coug, you have to try and put that power down to the ground. Plus, he's AWD, barely any loss at the line. Well Good luck.:(

thats why it has to be on the highway or something, where the AWD wouldnt be so much of an advantage

You sir need to race from a really high roll or hope your car can pull of 11"s maybe 12's. The parasitic loss on the drice train can probably get your car to pull faster and harder in the top end then his AWD. Off the line your ass is his.
Witnessed a 96 gsx ( heavier then the 1gs') rape my friends SS camaro. with a 16g and 3 inch exhaust alone.
