posting this here cause this would get locked over on CEG. anyway i was crusing along going home at around 1 am when this newer 00 + caddilac elderado northstar V8 comes flying up then slows down to get beside me i look over the thing had green bulbs in the corner lights :disgust: i see him like lurch foward like he had punched for a sec. so i slow down to 35 drop it to 2nd gear and floor it as soon as he sees me about to pass him he floors it too. i pulled pass him about a car length and then i look back was like HOLY $hit hes still right there i look back again and i was barely inching on him custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif futher down the rd we go seperate ways but i was shocked that he kept up that much so i came home looked up the hp and tq. found out it has 300 hp and 290 tq but its 3800lbs. i still feel that i should of pulled more then i had. i think its time to clean my UIM & LIM and get some headers

my friends mom has a el dorado and when his stang is in the shop, he gets to whip the caddy around. its pretty quick, spins the tires all through first. we've never raced side by side cuz its uhh... huge family car. quick though, but still a huge mafia car lol.

dude, he was def not racing. a 300hp v8 would smoke your ass, all cougar love aside.

I'll guaranty he was racing. An ElDorado and an SVT Contour are pretty closely matched. Sure it has a big power advantage, but it weighs several hundred pounds more than the Contour and has a 4spd auto instead of a 5spd manual.

I've raced one once before but was in the mustang GT. I pulled maybe a car, possibly two and was amazed.

I can't quite see a contour hanging or beating one. . .but then again the weight ratio is there and design of the car. Those caddys are good off the line but suck after 60mph due to their size. Wind isn't it's friend :)

So then again, yea perhaps so. Either way

I haven't had the chance in the TA. For some reason I don't get many bites any more. Don't know why though . ..I'm just a slow stock TA

I believe it... I raced both a Contour SVT and Deville DTS (300hp Northstar)... both races were about the same, but I think the Coutour had me by slightly more.

Of course, I raced the same black SVT with my Mustang GT yesterday... it was sweet revenge

Yeah I believe he was racing. Those cars have 300hp but as someone mentioned earlier they are incredibly heavy and they are automatics. I raced one a while back when I only had exhaust and I lost but not by much at all.

I would definantly say he was racing you.

(that's not that hard to believe, after all I beat an impala with the corvette engine recently. Good engine but the car is too damn heavy and the auto tranny really sucks. (also he had new gears). And I know he was racing me because he is my friend and I think he was kind of pissed that I beat him - didn't beat him by much.

i barely pulled on him. the only reason i pulled a car at 1st was cause i got a tiny jump on him. i think on the highway though i would of had a better advantage against him then off the line. i think off the line he would of beat me with all that tq and all he has to do is floor it with the auto
