Does anyone know what size speakers i need to replace the existing ones?
I know they are oval shaped and about 5x8. Are there any speakers that will go straight in without any mods?
What speakers has anyone else fitted?

Hi All

I've just replaced my front 5 by 7's. There are a lot of replacements from the major company's in this size but are almost all quite low power input and are also usually at the bottom of their quality ranges. 6 x 9's will not fit without some minor surgery. You need to take out about 1 cm all round for the basket to fit properly using the template and also line the hole for a good fit. I good jigsaw with a metal bit will cut it fairly easily but you must be brave and hold the saw tight to the metal. Connections are white (+), grey (-). The sound is improved with far better definition and bass as long as you use reasonable quality speakers for no better reason than the fact you have a larger cone area. Unfortunately you will never get "awesome" bass out of the fronts because if you take the door panel off their is a hugh hole in the door below the speakers reducing the doors 'baffling' capabilities but this can be reduced with a good sound deadening material such as dynomat.(however in a good systems, enourmous deep bass is not required in the front as these should be the 'staging' speakers)

If this isn't your speaker of choice you can easily go to a 6 inch or 6 inch /tweeter component set but for this you'll have to get the MDF out and make a template to fill the whole which you can screw in from behind the metal and cut your speaker hole in the baffle to size (to ease the hole should be cut first). With this method you should get away with a 6 without having to cut metal.

Good sound to all
