I just bought a '99 Cougar...I love this car. But...what's going on with the low coolant light? It keeps coming on, even though the coolant level is fine, and it's starting to get annoying.

Second, I was browsing one of these boards and saw that someone said keyless entry was standard on all Cougars...it is not. At least, according to my Ford dealer (and Ford Customer Service), it does not have it. Just to make sure, my dealer tried programming a keyfob for me, but it wouldn't work.

Thanks!

Welcome to NECO!!!! Good choice of cars.

I don't believe all Cougars came with keyless entry, some do. I really don't have a definate answer for ya, but if he tried programming a fob and it didn't work then I would say you don't have the option.

As far as the coolant light goes, it's because the sensor thing is in a really stupid spot in the tank. Just add more coolant until the light goes out. Not really a worry.

Good luck, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Hey everybody, thanks so much for the welcome!!! :)

So is there any way to repair the sensor for the low coolant light? When I bought my car, it came with a 90 day warranty, so if there is a fix, I'd like to get it repaired at their cost.

And I'm about to take my cat on it's first long road trip this weekend; I'll be sure to post something about it.

And as for Ellen's fund, I am a CPA, so I might be able to help you set up tax-exempt status for it! (j/k)

Alright, an accountant!!!! Tax exempt is good!!! Actually I start a new job on Tuesday, I guess I should remove that...could still use donations though.

There isn't really a fix for the sensor, there isn't anything wrong with it, it's just up really high in the tank. So short of getting inside the tank and relocating it to the max line (where it should have been put in the first place) there really isn't anything else you can do except fill the tank up until the light goes out. I'm having a burnt-out bulb warning problem with mine right now, it takes awhile to be able to ignore the damn warning lights. You get good at it after awhile.

Again, good luck, and we'll have to talk about my charity funding!!!
