I am having some problems when my car is idleing. It is doing 1 of 2 things usually. It will either idle roughly and kinda "waver" between 750 RPM's and 1250 RPM's...it will never really settle on one speed. Or, after I drive a little, and come to a stop, with only the brake being applied and the car in neutral, the engine will rev to 2000 or even 2500 RPM's and stay for a few seconds then come back down and settle at around 1500 RPM's or it will just idle high around 1500 RPM's. Any thoughts??? I just read where Fett said something about the PCV valve. Any thoughts??

no i didnt.. mine does it every now and then.. when i turn on my car.. i can hear my intake just sucking in alot of air and my idle is at 2500.. then sometimes after 2 seconds other times a lil longer... it will drop down to 900 and just stay there.. i'll rev it the engine.. it slows and for a couple seconds stays at 1100.. then drops to 900 real quick and it feels like my car is shaking a lil when it does that.. like if it wants to shut off but doesnt

i'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with your intake not being made specifically for your car.....have no clue why the idle can be so weird on our cars though
change you pvc valve it cracks and leaks after 50g's
your first step then check you valve cover if there is oil in the spark plug shaft. make sure it's tight. do not over tighten it.
then check all vacume lines for cracks and dry rot. you shoud chane you fule filter after 15g's of driving . also check you spark plug wires if there old change them. they will crack and arc
and can cause a flux in idel if you ever pulled them out and the uper boot split(valve cover seal) you need to replace them.
hope this helped

Sounds to me like your problems are more electronic. I'd almost be a dollar it's the idle air control valve on all of your cars. I own a zx2 with a zetec motor and it did the same thing. I've worked at a parts store for years and it's a popular item. My mechanic, who impresses the hell outta me, diagnosed it as this in seconds.

thanks alot!!! Are any of these issues I can deal with using ordinary mechanical ability and tools or is this a dealership thing???
