The price isn't bad, you could probably get them down a little more. I have a 99 V6 MTX and I paid more than that, but mine only had 32,000 miles on it. It's completely loaded, sport and convenience packages, but mine has grey leather and a black dash. I've never seen a wood-grain dash come stock, but from the sounds of it, the car is sweet! You're lucky too, with the tan seats your interior will match. They all have tan headliners and inside pillars, and then mine came with grey leather seats. Didn't match at all and I had to change the headliner color and paint the pillars.
As far as problems with the 99-00 cougars, some people have a lot and some people have none. Luck of the draw. Common problems are the alternator dying and the sunroof breaking. You may experience the latter since the 99's came with metal sunroof tracks. The update parts that they use to replace them are metal, but it's pricey. I already did that. The fuel pump is iffy as well, although you may be alright. If the production date of the car is before 5/99 then it's return style, and they have less fuel pump problems (the screen filter thing on the bottom of the pump gets clogged and basically frys the pump). With that many miles you may want to have it scanned and test the voltage to make sure the alternator is alright, mine died 2 weeks after I drove it off the lot. You may also want to get a full carfax done on it to see if any of those things have been replaced yet.
That's all I can think of right now, good luck and good choice!!!

alright i checked it out and took it out for a test drive last night. i wasnt very impressed with the dealership at all. first off, i knew more about the car that the salesman...if i had known nothing about the car and come in, this salesman would have been completely useless to me. second of all, the car is supposed to be one of their "certified used vehicles." its supposed to come with a 3 year 3000 mile warranty. well, i went to take it out for a test drive, started it up, and the check engine light stayed on...what kind of dealership lets a car go through a certified 147 point inspection and doesnt take care of a check engine light? i have no idea what this could mean...something as simple as a short somewhere, or something very serious.
now to the car...the leather interior has one blemish on it on the driver's side. it looks as though someone punched a small little whole in it and tried to fix it up with one of the leather repair kits that you see in the informercials...the color didnt match the real leather color. its not a big deal. also, some of the wood interior bits need to be replaced. their are about 4 or 5 that have become discolored for whatever reason, and on a couple the plastic coating that is supposed to protect wood is coming off. i'd say this is due to the severe summer heat of arizona getting to it. the outside looks pretty good. i questioned the saleman about that and he hinted to me that i would have to pay to get this fixed. i saw a few scratches here and there. also the gas lid is looks oxidized, the black paint is faded and not very shiny.
overall, the trip out there was a little disappointing. i wouldnt expect a dealership to put a "certified used vehicle" on the lot in the condition it is in. if this purchase gets into the negotiating phase all of the above problems will have to be fixed.
