Afternoon all

Just wondering what products people use on their cars, as in car wax and shampoo?

Forgot to add alloy care too, can anyone recommend anything?

Anything that Meguiars make is great. Gold Class Clear Coat Wax is the No. 1 as far as I'm concerned.

I ordered some stuff from Speeding (http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Maguiars.html) last Sunday.

Car Polish Kit & Torch (http://www.bosun-products.com/prodlist.asp?cat=40)

Thanks Cougarbloke

I saw this on TV, I don’t think I’ll bother with it, Item 2552, the demonstration looked good but it never works when we try it.

as jason says paint work is my job. at work i use mainly 3M products but as cougarbloke says meguiars is good stuff, just read what the guys in the US say about it. as for alloy cleaner if you are getting new rims give them a good going over with wheelwax before theyre fitted, damo sells it Autostylin (http://www.autostylin.co.uk)

Cheers guys, will go shopping this weekend. I saw the st200 alloys for sale on ebay, not sure if it's worth the hassle of having them imported.

got to agree with matt on both counts i have just started using 3m stuff after using autoglym and in my opinion its loads better but its personal preference probably.with regards to the wheel wax again ffantastic seems to take longer for my wheels to get dirty where as before i was washing them every day(seriously!) as they are chrome.....hope it helps:biggrin:

......and I forgot to recommend Hyper Turishmo's Wheel Wax obtained from Damian.

Used twice over six months on n/s wheels only to trial. Fantastic. Reduced adhesion/amount of brake dust on the wheels and similiar with road dirt. Much easier to clean wheels compared to the untreated o/s.

When bought my new wheels waxed all four before fitting. Still working. Wheel Wax

gav,i ordered mine from the states before i knew that matt used 3m products and it was not that cheap the product was $12 which is about right once converted to £ but the shipping cost me £10 looked round on the net for a uk supplier and found some 3m products but not the one i specifically needed.
Maybe time for a group buy with matt if he can do it?? i can vouch for his products as he used them on my car at interford to remove some surface scratches!!

I for one will be interested in the 3m, i am currently using autoglym which is ok, but the polish drives me mad, with all the white dusty residue that is left. I like the fast glass and the bumper care, but not so sure of the rest. So i fancy a change. Have looked into maguairs and so far have been impressed at what i have heard, but i am always looking, and am interested in what the PRO's use. so let me know, please..........Gav.

Well after all the glowing reports about Maguiars i thought i would give it a try seeing as the Autoglym had ran out.
Big mistake :puke: Its easy enuff going on but crap to get off.It has a sticky quality which might be a good thing but its not easy to get off. Also with Autoglym if you come across a tar spot with a little gentle rubbing Autoglym will remove it.Not the case with Maguiars :( And to top it all it dont look any better than Autoglym when you finished.Only thing i can say thats good about it is it smells nice :thumbsdn:

Since I got my Cougar I've been using Zymol Cleaner Wax which was recommended by one of the US NECO guys (NorCalCoug)......it's great, easy to apply and (particularly on darker-coloured cars) reduces the swirl marks which can be seen in reflected sunlight.....smells great too ;)

Just my opinion though......

been using the trusty Autoglym for years and years but recently tried Meguiars - top stuff just not widely available as of yet

I use Mer which is the stuff they always sell at motorshows by setting fire ti a mini bonnet (very sad), That said however it does produce an excellent dark shine and ontop of that it has a hugh advantage. Unlike Autoglym you can cover the whole car in polish at the same time and then just take it off at leisure - there are no time constraints infact the longer you leave it within reason the better

Sounds like you are putting too much on mate. One 20p piece sized blob will do an entire side of the car...that's the good thing about it...might not even need that much!!

Matt, count me in for the 3M scratch remover that you used on Jason's car at Interford - I lost the paper with the name !!!

Was there another 3M product that you applied after the scratch remover ?

Let me know costs & postage.

Thanks

Colin
