Could anyone tell me what the situation is with regards to child seats and the Cougar.

i know about rear facing baby seats in the front, but I am interested in a Child seat/booster seat for a 3 year old toddler.

Would the child be ok in the back seats? being of the bucket design.

Is there a booster seat available for the Cougar?

:flushed: My son's are 19 and 20 (and 6ft 3 tall!) so they can't even get in the rear seats!!

When they were 3 years old we had booster seats which linked into the rear seat belts (i.e. lifted them so that they could safely use the normal belts and also see out of the window). This was on a car which also had bucket seats in the back - but more headroom. From what I remember of them they would have fitted in the Cougar. (Bought them in mothercare).

I remember when mine were 3 and 4 seriously thinking about buying a Transit van to transport them, the prams, nappies, mother-in-law etc.

Enjoy yours while they're young. Kids are great up to about 9/10 and then emerge from incomprehensibility at about 17. Its a long wait!

Thanks for the advice, I wasnt sure if you should use a booster seat with the bucket seats.

The reason I asked is the new girlf has a little girl, and it makes sense to take the cougar with its black hole of a boot, looks like ill have to hold of the plans for the boot sized sub box. hehe

I've had my car 7 months now and tried sitting the back seats to see how much room you get, and at 6' 5", you dont get much!!!! At the time tho I didnt need to think about the back seats, i was just thinking with my right foot.

Theres a big Mothercare in Bluewater, I'll take a butch in there.

As a side note, the little lady has prompted me to re-apply for the Met, any advice on the keys issues to mention at the mo? Last time they was hot on the Stephen Lawrence case.

Thinking over my reply the only potential problem is that the Cat has extremely curved rear seats but I would not have thought that was a great problem!

As a metter of interest perhaps my boys hated the booster seats and wouldn't use them after about age 4!!

I am only 5' 9" and can't fit in the rear seats

 just saw your part about joining the met, my son has just got through for TVP final interview and he found http://www.ukpoliceonline.co.uk/ very useful. It is a chat site for people joining (or trying to) and is probably more current than me who retires shortly!

Hi Keif

I hope I can help.

I have a baby and a three year old.........The baby goes in a rear facing seat in the back....most types fit. The three year old had a 2nd stage seat at first called a Britax Renaissance.....it had a lever under so it could be tightened to fit any shape seat.As my daughter will soon be in this one we have now got my three year old a booster. We went to a babyworld type shop who let us try some. If the booster pad the child sits on is not big enough the seat slips down in to the bucket part of the seat. We ended up buying a Concord Lift Pro. It looks a bit space age as it has side supports for the childs head which can be adjusted until they are about 11 and the back also comes off later to be just a booster, but it fits brilliantly. Only downside is it is expensive (£80) I love my car and wanted Jack to be safe. Some boosters are okay for front seats with airbags but not this one. If you go to mothercare or the baby department of John Lewis they all have a try before you buy type policy. Good luck
