Backroad Racing Baby!

I was on my way home from work tonight and saw my friend scott ride by in his red s-10 so I turned around and pursued! I followed him back out in the backwoods to a very very long straight road. His s-10 is an MTX my Couga is an ATX. I kicked off o/d and set the shifter to first. I pulled up in the left lane and we did a 1 - 2 - 3 count. And we were off!! It was a really decent race, I was even for the first 3 seconds then he pulled till my window was even with his rear tire. There I stayed. When we hit the brakes I was going about 80 I think...I forgot to look, but it was about there. In the 1/4 mile he ran a 16.3, not sure which engine he has -- but he is stock except for a muffler. And I am a stock ATX V6. Decent race, had some fun :thumbsup::wiggle::thumbsup:

was a good close race. He has to have the 4.3 liter V6. Damn why would noone race me when I had my S-10. Maybe it was that whistling under the hood. :P

I'm pretty sure it is the V6, thats what I remember him saying -- but my sister seems to think it was a 4cyl...but no way I would lose to that? So, yeh, V6. I'll race him again after I get CAI + Exhaust :poke:

[Edit] BTW based on where I finished behind him -- what kind of 1/4 might that translate into? 16.8 or so?

the 4 banger s-10s run like 18 second 1/4 so it is a v6.

It is hard to say what you would get in the 1/4. The road you raced on was it a flat road? was it a little up hill or downhill? all these play into favor. I know that the V6 s-1o has more torque then you do. That is why i ask about the level of the road. uphill he would pull you easier then flat or downhill. All this and plus if you only reached 80 then you had a little more distance to the 1/4 mark. You never know that little way and you could have gained on him some and gotten a better time. all this make sense? I am at work so i am typing this as i am doing many things, so if i am rambling then i am sorry.

Lemme go get it real quick, the full one is in my email. I'll post two of her. Anyway, the road was level. And he actually didn't get the jump in those first 3 prolly because I was the one doing 1 - 2 -THREE.

i have a mtx I4 and my brother has a v6 ford f150 w/ stock instake and airbox w/ k&n he was able to beat me.. my friend has an s-10 as well and i always kept up w/ him... but now that i have my intake.. i dust both of them by like a car and half..

woohooooo.. i raced another 4.3 today and i beat it.. from dead stop and rolling start... from stop i was able to get a good car length off the jump i think maybe he spun out to much...but i stayed that car length throughout the whole race.. when we stopped he said he spun out to much so i said ok lets go from rolling start... so we were cruisin i was in 3rd goin about 35-40 and he paced me.. i looked at him he counted down 3 and punched it.. i dropped to second.. and i stayed dead even.. i shifted to third and i gained half a car... then he shifted and pulled up next to me.. but my 3rd gear goes forever and when he shifted i stayed in the same gear and just started pulling away... he gave me props.. and he got all mad to find out my car was only an I4
