I know that some of these players can read if discs are partitioned into folders... but what if you put in a disc that has folders and your player doesn't recognize folders? Does it just put all the songs back to back, or does it have a read error?

depends on the player. some put them back to back, and some will automatically put them into folders depending on the # of songs on the disc.
so track 1-30 will be in 1, 31-60 in 2 etc..

i am sure it will put them back to back, mine takes folders, but i am thinking they will just go back to back, what kind were you thinking of getting?
