Well coming home from CF this year myself and other caravan members were cruising at around 80 mph in 5th gear. My car was over 4000 RPM's and the others were around 3000 rpm's. Now I suspected my clutch of sliping b\c my gas milage has been getting steadily worse. So heer are my questions:

1) At say 70 mph, what rpm are you at in 5th?
2) I recall 3rd gear running out alot higher then 70mph (maybe it's my imagination) but now 3rd redlines at 70mph. What does 3rd run out at for you guys?
3) When thinking of my problems I thought of a test. I ran the car up to 110 in 5th and couldn't go any faster (I used to exceed 120 easily) after 2 minutes of trying to go beyond 110 I smelled a burning. Was it my clutch as suspected?
4) If I need a new clutch, what do you suggest? (Installing myself) Keep in mind that I plan a 3.0L or Jagulars sc/turbo kit this winter. ($500 max spending limit here guys for the clutch and such)
5) I searched and alot of ppl suggested the svt clutch. Where would I get this clutch? and what else exactly would I need to buy and from where?

Thanks for the help guys and gals.

1) I think i run at like just under 3 grand at 70, i think 75 is just before secondaries open, so that's where i get the best gas milage i think (i'm trying to remeber this, haven't driven that fast for a while....)
2)if i kill 3rd, i think i am going like 80

3/4/5) i dunno much, i'm a stocker :(

I top 3rd at about 83 if i redline it. I have hit 140 in 5th before and it doesnt take that long to get there either.

ok, well my clutch is abviously toasted....any thoughts on all the parts I'll need to do a svt clutch, where to get it, how hard it is to do, how I should do it, and how long it will take?

SVT clutch?? don't even consider it with your future planned upgrades

get a SPEC stage 2 or 3 link is here (http://www.spmotorsports.com/ATCcontour_driveline_clutch_kits_spc.html) ... you might be able to get a slightly better price if there is a GB going on. and that includes everything including a well design pressure plate, release bearing and slave cylinder

obviously going with a flywheel (http://www.spmotorsports.com/contour_driveline_flywheels.html) at the same time is the right thing to do, but if you can't afford it just get the stock one machined to reduce weight and restore the surface as you can easily remove 4 to 6 lbs from the stock steel unit

The same damn thing is happening to me.....FUDGE!!!
What kind of advice would you people give on what type of a clucth to get...I have the v6, with just an intake, and exhaust, for performance, and will sooner or later get more performance mods.....
Please anyone who knows anything, and can give advice, much appreciated!

What about unorthodox flywheels vs fidanza...I noticed unorthodox was quite a bit more - is it worth it?
