I noticed the other day when I didnt have the sub playing and I ran over a bump or something it would make the sub start throbbing as if it was beating without music, what can this problem be? Its really weird and it seemed like it only did it when I gave it a jump start by hitting some kind of bump in the road. Any idea ?

Ok this is gonna sound really sad but it may help you out in some way. When my system was in my moms Taurus, I had the same problem. When I was on my way home from school I had turned my system down and just sat at a stop light, then all of a sudden a constant bass note was coming out of both subs. It wasnt just a little hum, I mean it sounded like I had this sucker turned all the way up. Turns out, somehow (since I was using a stock radio with my sytem at the time) the RCA convertor got loose in the rear and triggered a resonant frequency within the trunk area. Every time the trunk shut it it would cause the air pressure to change and would send a signal through the channels to cause the constant reverb. Some people may not believe that but its true, and honestly I didnt believe it was that either. So my question to you is... are you using a stock radio? Be sure to check all your connections and make sure everything is snug.

What DgnZCoug stated would be one possible reason for the subs to fluxuate without a signal. It happens.

Aftermarket headunit, I believe the prodlem has been fixed, adjusted some specs on the deck and amp, and it seems lik the noise has stopped when I hit bumps. Thanks alot though guys, it was a lil weird, but that sounds like what it couldve been..

NOOOO, CHECK YOUR AMP!!!!i had a bad amp, whenever i would go over bumps it would make my subs hit really weird/noise. just pound on ur amp . see if it does anything.

if my bass knob is turned up I'll hear the subs making some deep "bumping" noises, but I think it's static from the RC cables behind the aftmkt. stereo, I think they're touching metal somewhere back there. I really should tape them up.
