Hey all,

I understand how pathetic I am..... but I need help.

I purchased a receiver harness from Parts Express and it was the wrong one. Eager to put in my receiver, I went to Best Buy to purchase a harness. After I got home and removed my stock stereo, the damn harness doesn't fit exactly right.

Is there a harness that fits exactly to OEM specs or do I have to file down one of the plastic "lips"?

Please help a stupid homeboy!

Thanks!

Also, I should mention, the harness I got from Best Buy is by SCOSCHE, number BBFD02AB - with the description "non premium sound/jbl connector". It looks almost identical to the one listed for my car on Crutchfield's site.....Select 86 and up Fords/Mazdas (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-IWXm2Lq49TI/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=11&g=103000&I=120705002&o=m&a=1&cc=01&avf=Y)

I got my wiring harness from Wal-mart. It was a Schosche and it fit in perfectly with no modification. If you need the part number let me know and I'll try to find the package it came in. Just shoot me a pm or respond in here.

Get the quick connect harnesses from Circuit City... they plug directly into whatever head unit you tell them you have, and directly into the stock wiring harnesses with no modification. What good is an aftermarket harness if you still have to modify it?

Hey all,

Thanks for the help thus far!

I went to Wal-Mart and they didn't have anything different than I have right now. As a matter of fact, they only have 1 package for a Ford/Mazda/Mercury. What's worse is that I went to two different Wal-Marts today. My luck is so crappy... don't think I am going to play Keno tonight :)

Anyway, if you happen to have a model number Coug99, I would more than appreciate it!!!

I am so frustrated with this thing. Well, again, thanks to all for your help so far!

I got mine at a local car stereo shop because I didn't trust the ones at Walmart. Besides, the car stereo shops actually know a little something about them and will get you the right one and it's not any more expensive.

The harness is made by Scosche and the model number is FD02. It says Car Stereo Connector. Select 85-00 Ford Vehicles. I am not positive if it would work with '01 and '02 but I would assume it would. If you need anything else, just ask!

Scosche is a well respected car audio company (as far as adapters, connectors, dash kits, etc). Surprisingly enough Wal-mart's car audio section isn't half bad (for accesories, not speakers, headunits, etc).

Thank You!!!!

I am going to just order it from a Scosche retailer or something. Also, I am going to name my first born "Rocky".... sorry but I don't think the baby's Momma will go for Coug99. Again, thanks a million!

Don't mention it. haha, I like the Rocky idea! I wanna name my kid Rocky but you gotta find a good women to let you do that....worst comes to worst he's going to be Anthony Rocko. My kid is going to be destined to grow up a meathead. :)

I take it from your complete lack of acknowledgement of my post that you don't live near a Circuit City, or just don't feel like going there

Hey All,

The thing with Circuit City is that... well... they suck around here. There are like two Best Buys that are alright if you know what you need. However, the CC's are just drug-fronts nowadays.

And I love you guys all the same.... however, Coug99's advice was just more helpful...that's all.

Thanks to everyone who helped!!!!

So, did you pick up the new harness yet?

I went to Circuit Sitty and they gave me a Metra 80-1770, which doesn't fit. Bastards. So there's a warning to anyone going there.

If CC doesn't have what I need tommorrow, I'll check out Walmart and try the Scosche FD02. If they don't have what I need, I'll consider splicing into the wires the dirty way.

I went to Best Buy to get mine, and one of the installers came out to look at my harness, apparently there are 2 models it could be, maybe you just got the incorrect one.

Okay I lied, after further inspection, the 80-1770 does fit. Its just wierd because the keyways dont look the same at all. One of the connectors is even about 0.5" smaller then the factory harness. But when plugged in, everything works fine.

Don't bother with circuit chitty, or Bb, for the harness, walmart is hit or miss
depending on inventory,

take a look at Sears, or PepBoys..
Both CC and BB were $10+ over the price of walmart for the same scrothe harnesses.
Don't forget your antenna adapter if you need it, is for a VW. And nobody has this info.
