I got the crap scared out of me yesterday by a guy in a Toyota SR5 V6 pickup. I was getting ready to turn right onto a bridge that's about 1/5th of mile long. I noticed this pickup coming down a long hill just before it flattens out onto the bridge. I figured (as I have before) that I would be able to accelerate fast enough in the WRX to match his speed so that I wouldn't make the guy jam on his brakes if I pulled out. He was probably about 100-150 yards behind when I pulled out. So I did and once I was turned onto the bridge I accelerated hard. Well I didn't pay any more attention as I passed probably 60 mph. Then to my surprise I notice this guy in the Toyota has pulled up beside me on a two lane bridge crossing the double line! Now keep in mind I am still accelerating. When the guy was directly beside me, I had matched his speed, but had to jam on the brakes because there was a car infront, a blind turn at the other end of the bridge, and a rig that was getting ready to pull into the lane the truck was in coming the other way! First this guy almost killed us all, second I never thought that a Toyota Truck could do what he did. I followed the guy into town madder than @#$!. He pulled into a lot, and I yelled at the guy "You trying to kill someone" He just smiled and said, " You want to race again" I just shook my head as to say "MORON" and drove on.

Well, it could have been a Tacoma with the optional TRD SuperCharger. ;)

Taken from MotorTrend:

"Toyota's TRD supercharger lifts its 3.4L DOHC V-6's horsepower number from 190 normally aspirated to a pretty heady 254 blown. Torque is up from 220 lb-ft to 270 lb-ft of tire-prying twist."

Hope that helps. :)

My friend had a SR5 with the 3.4L (non supercharged) and I raced him a few times. Even know my car is a pathetic automatic, we were dead even off the line and then I just pulled on him from there. He totaled it though and now has a 2000 BMW CI323. The first few seconds its pretty even, then the beemer just pulls away after that.
