there's not one specifically made for the zetec cougar....you can make your own, or you can modify one (AEM) to fit

Dude the intake thing is crap and a scam!! All it does is make your Cougar sound better. It did absolutely nothing for my Cougar.....especially in the heat. Maybe the CAI would work...but it sounds like a scam as well. Just my $.02

that's the first i've heard of a complaint like that.....i noticed gains with my intake right away....and if you think about it....better air flow would give that to you....you're going from a restrictive as hell air box, the air box that sits on the throttle body, and a crummy no flow paper filter whereas the intake has a high flow filter and smooth intake tubing that goes straight to the throttle body....
are you having problems with it or do you just think you see no gains?
sorry that you think it's a scam bro.....most people enjoy their intakes greatly....

no power gain
no gas mileage gain
sounds crappy
Its the cta also...supposed to be best. Maybe the heat?
I had a K&N drop in and it seems the same! Maybe its just me and the other car I've been driving???
I've also been told by several pro's that theyre a waste of money...who knows? All I know is I see no gains from it.

All internal combustion engines are basically linear airpumps. The more efficient it is in moving air (CFM) the more horsepower it will produce for a given displacement. A less restrictive intake does help in that aspect..........but if you have an expectation of huge horsepower gains, then you'll be disappointed.

I was mostly expecting gas mileage and sound.

I was talking to Kenny (GMK) at cougarfest about his cold air intake thingy on a zetec. He said it should have no problems. Ill have a cta intake in 3 weeks or so then ill save up some more for the cold air and talk a little more to him about it.

I also sent Kenny my Weapon R intake, for free of course (he paid shipping), I figured he'd find a good use for it, since I didnt need it anymore... so he might make a CAI that uses the WR intake elbow...

Since I'm just now seein this thread, and someone else bumped it up, I'll give my opinion. I agree with Jason, as soon as I installed my intake (KKM) I noticed a difference...of course it wasn't a supercharger difference of anything, but a difference non the less.....

Is the kkm a full pipe to the TB or just that little bit where the "box" is?
carsnrockmusic

the kkm replaces the airbox with a cone filter
edit: here's a pic...it still has the airbox that sits on top of the throttle body as you can see

I used one that was designed for the Focus, and it works perfectly. Definitely makes a difference. Like was said before not a huge one but one none the less.:goofy:

The one that I got went right on. I only had to put a little piece of cushion tape on my hood because one of the clamps touches it when I drive due to vibrations. I bought it off of ebay for 58$. Sounds awesome and can tell a difference in power.

the one fastcat is referring to is not the cold air intake
for the cold air intake (cai), you would have to extend the wires for the AIT and the MAF for sure....other than that it should fit...look into what parts the cai for the focus includes with it....see how it hooks up to the focus...if i have time, i'll see if i can look it up sometime
edit:...emailed AEM to see what parts are included....also found out iceman makes a cai for both focus's and zx2's...will be lookin into that as well

I think the iceman intakes are like $300!!!

if the focus CAI works then i say go for it. If not then my GMK cai is an option, which you could add to a shortram. I have yet to install one on a zetec but hopefully soon thanks to Ness ive been able to confirm fitment.

Ahhhhh! I didn't see the cold part. Sorry mine is ram air.

ill try looking into the cai also...see what i can find out...i did find them on ebay...the cais are pretty cheap...but if it takes too much modification (since i dont think i could do it) i might think other wise and just go for a regular intake....ill check around
thanks

2 Questions:
1.) That pic that carsnrockmusic posted of the KKM...where do you find that to buy and how much??
2.) Is there a difference in sound/hp gains between just replacing the stock air box and filter OR installing an entire intake system??
scottina99

I believe the KKM intakes are at BAT Inc. Do a Google search for British American Transfer and their website will pop up.

just get the CTA short ram intake, it DOES make a difference...if you didn't notice then you've got other car problems.
Also if you look in the Zx2 intake section on their site, they have a cta filter relocation kit, which is like an extra elbow piece added to the CTA intake, with a battery relocation or fuse box relocation I bet you could make it work.
