Well it was a nice summer day at the mall with my mom..... Backing out of a parking place i hear a loud pop. Now when I take left hand turns it almost feels like the front left wheel is locking up and you hear **** grinding. Thsi is an MTX by the way.

I take the car to a ford dealership. They emtpy the tranny fluid and its full of metal. Then the guy gives me this crap about inspecting my car to see if the warranty is still good so I leave my car there over night. The next day the guy claims I abused my car and have been street racing my car because my front 2 tires are bald at 28 thousand miles. He then claims he will not cover this under warranty.

So now I beleive I am basically screwed and I have two questions.

Is there anything else I can do?

How much will a new tranny cost me?

Thanks and any information wil be appreciated.

Yeah, I would call Ford and report this, because if you're still under warranty it should be covered. He had no proof that you raced and that the racing caused the tranny to blow. After 28,000 miles your tires may very well be bald, or they could be bald due to some other factor like misalignment. He just can't do that. Did he give you any other reason? I know when I was in high school and the transmission on my Aspire died and there was metal all through the pan, they covered that under warranty no problem. Granted there is no way I was racing an Aspire, but it's the same deal here. Call Ford and let them know that you have no idea why the transmission died, and that your car is still under warranty and that the dealership will not cover it. Or better yet, take it to a different Ford dealership. Your warranty is good at any Ford place, just find another one and see what they say. A new transmission from Ford will cost you over $1000 (well over with labor) so I'd try everything I could to get this worked out. That really sucks, what is wrong with Ford covering the Cougar? God they won't cover it even if it is under warranty.

1-800-392-3673 (Ford customer service)

Give it a try, they'll probably direct you somewhere else, but this should get you started.

If you need to buy your own and Ford d*cks you then call Terry Haines at HMS Inc. he can find you a good one and re-build to better then new specs with a Quaife. Cost less then $1600 plus the price of buying a used trans plus the install where ever you get one.

I had my tranny do the same thing 3 times. FORD replaced it 3 times all under warranty. Just keep at them and tell them u are gonna call the regional manager and actually make that call and complain to HIM/HER. You can get the regional service managers # from the ford dealership. They have to give it to you if you ask.
